I spray LABS and my bug juice with the lights on... I don't foliar feed... But if I did, I wouldn't sorry too much about lights being on.
If I used some pesticides I'd turn lights off though.

So guys...I have a couple bags of Fox Farm OF - one full and the other partially so. They were left outside the garage under the awning and it rained. They didn't get rained on but they absorbed plenty of moisture. They're only $15/bag so I'm not super upset if I have to get more but I'd rather use them if they are probably still good.

It got down in the 30's the other night I doubt there's a lot of pests surviving but I'm pretty ignorant on the whole in the realm of growing owing to I've only been doing it for a few months and poorly at that.

I feel like I read somewhere the other day that you shouldn't leave soil outside at all or you can just assume it has pests...but I dunno about where y'all live out here they keep the new bags on a palette outside in the garden store parking lot before they sell it to you soooo...

microbes have likely activated and are eating the nutrients just like if you watered in a pot.

also oyster shell powder activated and pre depleting.

and i wouldnt bring inside for fear of pests.

So probably gonna go buy new soil today following this conversation. I've been going FFOF just for simplicity since everyone seems to have it and it's generally well liked - just add some perlite and ewc...BUT open to suggestions.

Organic soil recommendations?

I have used pretty much every soil available in the local shops and there are some good ones. It just depends on how much soil you need, for the smaller indoor grows its practical to buy top shelf soil ready to go. However I was spending far too much money on soil cuz not only do I grow big buds outdoors but I also do peppers and tomatoes. I started creating my own soil and I never looked back I totally swear by it I have had great results. My best and most simple recipe is as follows. All ingredients easily found at home depot...

1/3 Peat Moss
1/3 Manure (Chicken or Steer)
1/3 Perlite or Course Vermiculite

This blend will grow plants good but its a sterile potting medium so in order to wake it up I will add either Bio-Char or Fungi Mycorrhizae. Lastly I will add some Azomite which is basically a powder rock additive that helps add essential earth minerals. I can buy big bags of all these materials and make whole trash cans full of potting soil for way cheaper than store bough prepared soil. Sometimes to add extra nutrients I will add homemade compost top dressings to my pots. You can always add water soluble organic bloom boosters during the flowering cycle if your strains are extra nutrient hungry. I know its a bit or work to mix your own soil but if you are doing a fair amount of plants you may want to give it a try it can save you money for sure.

Appreciate it bud! I probably want to start making my soil at some point but currently I'm just running a 5x5 and my biggest constraint is free time so I think I'll probably go ready-bagged for now. Tempting though....

Hi guys

So the plants are what they are. Looking happier and healthier but overall stunted and looks like they mostly missed the stretch.

@Milson I think you asked about what the soil looked like under the mulch covers - here's before the last Kashi topdress and watering, still has a pretty good fungal beard growing through the last EWC topdress:

Some oyster shell flour I was about to water in.

Honestly just looking forward to getting more started in here. The frostiest plant so far is one I didn't take cuts from (of course lol)

Can see here where I had concerns about possible re-vegging - but I don't know a lot about it and I also thought it was possible that area is just where the trellis was in the veg tent...

Hai guys and gals. Fun fact; I'm starting to begrudgingly like these plants. They're stinking pretty good and finally acting right. I wish I had gotten them straightened out in time for a proper stretch and expression of their full potential but I reckon they'll still make some tasty resin.

Hey guys (@MIMedGrower since we were having this convo earlier) how do we feel about Perlite that has been left outside? Safer than soil or also assumed to be infected with pests?

For me. Nothing i cant clean with alcohol comes in to any grow area from outside. Ever.

but a sealed bag of perlite can be wiped down.

Sealed is fine. Unsealed? What kind of person are you? Would you obsess over the chance the darn perlite is the reason you have pests if you get them? I mean how bad would it be?

For me, honestly, the answer is not that bad...but I don't have much riding on having perfectly pest-free crops. YMMV.

I use a clothes steamer for everything I can :) hydrogen peroxide for anything I cant steam.
Just took an ungodly amount of 80-year-old paint off our livingroom walls using one of these bad boys...
I've been thinking about its sterilizing abilities ever since...

It keeps a steady flow of steam for a far longer interval than any of the clothes steamers I've used... albeit, I've probably used some pretty shitty clothes steamers, but they all have done what they do quite intermittently, whereas this wallpaper steamer just steams out its whole reservoir which takes about an hour.

So if I could rig it to a 12-gallon reservoir and have a latching system for the steamer to connect to a steaming chamber.... 🤔

Lotta fuckin' mushrooms. 🤷‍♂️
