Blackberry auto under a 1000w King LED 22” from the canopy, 20/4. This is my first auto grow, and my first “real” grow (I had no plan last time; this greenhouse, lighting and nute measurement is all new this time around)

80°F, 50-60% RH

Currently at 1050ppm feedings twice weekly. Will bump to 1200 during flower. Her sister (same age) is in full flower. The buds are about the size of my thumbs so far. But this one looked healthy until maybe 2 days ago.

The other one has looked a little weird since it sprouted, so I expected somewhat odd genetics. It didn’t take to LST. This one took off with LST. So it’s a whole bunch of leaves crowded to one side of the bent main stem, and it looks pretty silly actually. I just don’t want to defoliate it because it didn’t veg as long as I would’ve liked before bloom.

What does this look like??

thanks in advance, guys. Cheers

You're feeding a bit too heavily. I'd be closer to 1ec/500ppm in early flower, up to about 1.2-1.3ec by mid flower. What ph are you feeding them and what are they growing in for media?

Ok, gotcha. Thank you. I do small feedings to see how they take so I will titrate the next one lower.

They are fed at with distilled H2O, or bottled Ca/Mg rich H2O when I want to incorporate that into feeding without added nutes at 5.8-6.0. The soil seems steadily 6.6-6.8, unless I have a bad soil meter that is throwing it off. I have to grab litmus sheets this week. They are in 80% coco/20% topsoil mixture. I re-dose 2g (4.5gallon bags) of worm castings into the topsoil every 2-3 weeks.

Additionally, the medium was started with fish bone meal, Cannazym, Epsom salts & coffee grinds. It’s my first mixture, so I wanted to start light and feed as they grew. I noticed what looked like a slight Mg and iron deficiency last week, dosed them with that in their next feeding and all looked fine until late last night. I let them sleep and checked again in the morning and they looked like this.

Honestly trying to correct percieved issues, unless you know for damn certain what youre looking at, will just cause more problems 9 times out of 10.

To me it seems like youre kind of overcomplicating things. I wouldnt personally mix topsoil with coco, where did you get the topsoil from?
Also you shouldnt really ever feed pure distilled, so i hope you are mixing nutes into that, and i hope your nutrients also contain a healthy amount of Calcium and magnesium. The odd calmag feed isnt enough and could even just make matters worse by not keeping the inputs consistent. And cannazyme has no place in a starter feed, its more useful several weeks into your grow when buildups start happening. Which kinda tells me youre not really sure why you are doing what you are doing, rather youre just doing what you think sounds good based on things youve read about. Which is nothing to be ashamed about, fumbling through the first couple grows is where most of us start, youve gotta start somewhere. And honestly I still try weird shit sometimes.. lol, but the basics are ubiquitous.

What fertilizer are you feeding? How often? How are you measuring ec and ph? How often do you water and what signs do you look for to know when the plant needs watering again?

For this cycle id make a couple adjustments, but ill wait until i hear a bit more about your process before giving any recommendations.

Oh by no means am I sure of myself. I’m just doing my best and reading everything I can, while likely over analyzing easy fixes that I’m too afraid to try— like gently defoliating the other plant that really should be trimmed, but I’m scared to do something catastrophic.

I always add to the distilled or the bottled ca/mg water. Always. I’ve been dosing probably closer to the stages of photos, which is why the ppm is too high for this stage in an auto. What you said makes total sense.

Perhaps no more deficiency chart-hunting for me this run.

The topsoil was from some potted soil I had a sunflower in, outdoors. I steamed it to 200°F to kill any microbes before mixing it into my coco. I thought some of the natural elements might help the biological processes along since coco is totally bare. That’s where the Cannazym came in— just in case there was anything in the recycled topsoil that could be converted for natural food.

I’m going to take your advice and ease up a bit. Maybe toke one before staring at them and pondering the wheels of worry in my amateur gardening mind.

Maybe toke one now. I’m way too nervous. This should be fun, and I shouldn’t be nervous. Lol.

Edit: I use general hydroponics bottled veg/flower. RAW cal/mag crystals & potassium powder. Sugar nutes- pineapple.
