I had 4 six month old mothers, Ive only used fem as mothers, i do not know of growers using males because just one should be enough to pollinate a few females. How long they keep their power im not sure, I've had plants in veg for a year with no issues in switching to flower

I have a friend of mine who has his mother plants for more than 2 years and he has told me that the plants can last even more, as long as you give them a proper care. What i know from him is that these plants need to be in the vegetative phase the whole time, and for that to happen they need more than 12 hours of light every 24 hours. Every day! Also, he uses fabric pots for the plants, in order to preserve the roots for longer... the trimming process is veery important too.. just try and test what works for your plants.

It depends on the space they have. Mine outgrow their tent at about 3 - 4 months from cloning. At that point I re- clone and start over. I'm not sure what you mean by "power" plants can be recloned over and over for genetations. Its not like cloning sheep. 😉 Some of the growers I've worked for keep mothers alive for a year+.

The owner of the original Dampkrimg coffeeshope in Amsterdam showed me a 7 year old feminized white widow mother plant started from seed in 1994. This was circa 2001. They would take the plant out of what looked to be a 20 liter pot and cut the roots back, and place into the same pot with new soil every year or so. It stayed under 16 hours of continuous light (I believe metal halide). Used for clones. Mother plants can theoretically live in perpetuity under the right conditions.
