Hi everyone I thought it was about time I shared my setup for those interested. I’m growing currently in living soil purchased from build a soil along with straw and cover crop on top.

Running 3 pots in a 2x4 tent with a ts600 Mars and ts2000 Mars.

I started 3 seeds. One in soil a week ago and the others in rooter pods until the roots grew and then the week prior. I’m really happy with the seed in soil as it’s nearly as large as the other two despite its age, great color, and feels so damn sturdy.

For the experimenters out there, the three pots are all running the same auto flower. Two have straw on top, one with straw a cover crop, and one bare living soil. Only watering with dechlorinated tap water with mycorrhizae when I first put the plants in the soil.

Maybe it’s the sleep deprivation, but I wanted to clarify on the fungus water. I only used it once on these plants.

Everything since is tap water I let sit out so the chlorine evaporated.

I hope to move to collected rainwater instead soon. I put our large collection tanks last night and we have had some nice rains.

Coming along nicely. Both the pants and kombucha are making me so proud. It’s been effortless aside from the watering.

So.. watering in the little space has started to get old. Time to find something automated. Open to suggestions.

I found a fantastic alternative use for my grow lights too. A second or two under the lights with glow in the dark toys makes for a fun night time play. 5-10 seconds and whatever you charge turns into a lantern. My kids love it.

RIP my three lovely ladies. They never stood a chance against my 2 year old. Left the door to the tent open to switch up my indoor garden and my tiny human invited herself in. She helped daddy by replanting his established plants.

On the plus side this to hardly any time to get here and I can easily replicate my system. Next time with an auto watering system.

Stay tuned for more updates.

After some back and forth, we decided to switch to a crop we care much less about if she happens to get into the tent again. Strawberries and peppers. Both inviting and repelling. Peppers from seed and strawberries already starting to flower. Put all them in the same pots as the original girls. Starting training on the strawberries. Dunno if it will do anything but hey, get some practice in. Growing ghost peppers, jalapeños, habaneros, and these ornamental peppers. The ornamental ones were my favorite a couple years back. Tasty, fun, and grew easily.

Still upset about the 3 autos. 20 bucks a seed :/. I’m pretty careful about closing the tent and leaving the zipper high up. Part of me thinks she had help from her sister… needless to say, everyone knows dads tent is off limits unless he says otherwise.

She’s done it again! This time it’s the raspberries. Dunno how she keeps doing this. I had them all out on the balcony to clean the tent, left for a few minutes and she uprooted a chunk of plants. Kids :/

On the plus side, I did consider my next setup. One that doesn’t require a lot of interaction and I can keep extremely well guarded. I’m talking of sub irrigation! Put that thing high up and out of the way. It mostly waters itself, and she can’t reach it until a few more years. Hopefully.

anyone ever built something like this to grow with?

Kids will test the ol patience sometimes lmao. Seems like she wants to play with dirt! Maybe she would enjoy pea plants? They are very fast, pretty, useful, etc.

There is a diary here using earth boxes i believe they were called.

Haha yeah she really loves playing in dirt. She spends most her day in one of our outdoor planters. Just covers herself leaves and dirt until she feels cold/bored.

test of patience is for real though. She’s barely 2 and is around the size of most 4 year olds. She moved my 10lb weights around the room, moved the tv stand around on carpet (takes a lot of effort on my part to do that), and she regularly takes the pins out of the door hinges. What the f is up with this baby.

Thanks for the link! I’ll check it out :D. I saw a few earth box grows on Reddit not long ago as well as others using them for tomatoes. Freaking genius idea

Lol the door hinges thing is pretty scary for pinches! And hopefully the tv is safely secured.

Sounds like she is having a grand old time, basically!
