@JJS009 the plastic "sticks" are probably lighter? that is an incredible undertaking! i wish i could grow out of doors, then i could say my plant dimensions in feet not inches! lol. i think it is great to NEED sticks to hold the weight of the buds. those are really impressive to me! about what yield will you get from one of those? i will work my way up from chop sticks to poles someday!

@PipeCarver, yup, i just ignored the guy. im pretty sure he has a language issue where he just cant grasp things. he is definitely not a person i want to hear from. im sure he will grow out of it (or get knocked on his booty).

That was last years outdoor grow, 11 plants in a 10’x15’ cage, was just shy of 7# dried

I use plastic stakes to support any branches on my plant. Specifically the main stem so it grows straight up.

when i broke the one in half i used a stick to hold her up. i taped it, but had to have the support and was afraid to move her much... so actually, i used 2 sticks! but it worked, she has a scar, but healed nicely!

i was wondering, will the sticks help the plant? i know people, with house plants, will poke sticks to aerate the roots... and they sell those shoes to stab your grass...

i just cant wait till i need a stick to support a bud! lol

Aeration is almost always good but usually cannabis is grown in fairly light medium anyways. I'd only poke holes if I needed more aeration and was having trouble getting it any other way. That's just my take though.

No, I don't think poking sticks in to aerate is a good idea. The roots will get damaged, I sharpen any I stick in the soil but I'm reluctant to do it once there's a root mass. I don't like feeling roots breaking as I shove sticks in so I do it early before the roots fill the pots.

I've taped sticks to the outside of the pots before to prevent the root busting but I still find the tomato cages easier to deal with.
Or a frame with netting but that restricts my ability to move the plants around. I like to rotate my girls 1/8th turn twice a day,

Sticks poke holes and nets restrict movement at the moment I'm a month from harvesting 3 - 6ft trees with no supports and 2 - 4 ft bushes..I'm not going to use any support but I may run a rope or 10 through the canopy if I see they are hanging too low.

hey brother, first of all ignore the trolls. If some idiot believes that nobody knows how to grow unless they grow the same way as them, then clearly that individual does not have adequate educatuon, insight, humility and open-mindedness to be giving ANY advice about growing. Im sure hes happy with how he grows and thats great for him. Now, what you described, breaking the plant, you may have inadvertently stumbled upon another technique called super-cropping. Bending a stem back and forth until ONLY the inner part of the stem is broken and then bracing it and letting it heal. You only break it just enough that it needs help standing, you dontwant to break the outer stem. Once healed it will look like a big knuckle but the nutrient pathways inside that branch are now exponentially larger and reinforced. Branches you do this too will grow more bud. Theres also 1 other benefit to using stakes.... im sorry, sticks..😂😉 when there is something perfectly vertical growing right next to the main stalk, it actually encourages the plant to grow straight up along side it. Ill say the same thing ive said before, you need to do what is best for you, in your environment, to get what you want to get out of your grow. Aside from the odd troll that always believes they know all and their methods are the only methods to use if you are to be considered a "real grower", aside from them, there are a lot of very knowledgeable, experienced and friendly people here at the farm who genuinely just want to help people with questions. Welcome to the farm brother. Dont hesitate to ask any questions you might have. I wish you luck and many bountiful harvests, friend. Happy growing.
