Y’all. I’m a first time grower here and I got into week 5 flower and my shit shriveled. I was out of town a couple of days and had everything on a timer, and had just done a reservoir change. Two plants in a dwc, one much smaller than the other both died. I kept it at 1200ppm and 5.4 ish pH. One thing I considered, I had broken the apex branch of the big one the week before during a water change. But then why would both plants die? Also the taller plant had kind of outgrown the light height, but again, why both plants? When I got home and saw it shriveled my ppms were about 1280 and ph 4 something. I’m starting one new plant tomm, from seed so I’d like a little insight on what the hell happened; thanks y’all 💚💚

Ppms are too high, ph was too low obviously. Did you have good air circulation? What kind of light?

Like stated if power cuts off it doesnt even matter

Ya, I use 600 w led and a bubble panic bucket with an air stone... I expected the ph to be high by the time I got back and it was low? I use the flora series and try and reduce recommended feeding but my ppm seem to always run too high, she was looking so great then boom 💥 dead

I can sum up the plants death it was toxic from the acid that was a bad ph to be running hydro in so instead of absorbing it was leaching back into the rez causing the ph to become more a acidic. Surprised the plant didn’t die from root rot at those levels

Next run keep the ph in between 5.8-6.5 max! And ease up on the ppm unless they are up taking a lot of nutes. My .02

Bummer. Crazy that the ph swing can kill your plant in hydro so fast. To me looks like it got bone dry. Learn something new every day!

Hydro can be very fickle, their could have been other factors that was causing problems as well. Aeration, bad mixing practices, he never shown a pic of the root he could have went to hot and burnt the root and caused rot, but hydro isn’t all that bad once you get in check and things stable out. So you just gotta learn from your mistakes and push forward

Your ppm for hydro is way too high. Everyone I know that runs hydro stays in between 700-800 ppm. 5.4 seems a little low, I'd stick around 5.8 ph. Like others stated, probably died from too much ppm and ph too low so not absorbing nutrients and then becoming too acidic.

After a re look you can see what I circled and their was bad signs showing in that photo before you let it sit.

I, stay between 5.6-5.8 on my grow. 5.69 is where I try to get it lol. Seems when I dip down to 5.5 for a few hours that I get burns on the leafs.

He is for sure wayyy too low.

Up until it died, you totally had it. Looked great.

Sounds like you got your answer, now time to dummy-proof the setup. Best of luck, man!
