Hey guys,

Currently got three Crystal Candy XL autoflowers from sweet seeds on day 20 of flower. 2' x 2' grow tent (73-78F & 45-55% RH) with 110W LED grow light at 35cm from plants. Grow medium is Bio Bizz All Mix feeding Bio Grow 1 ml/L, Bio Bloom 2 ml/L, Top Max at 2 ml/L, AlgAMic 1 ml/L + Tap water at 6.3 PH.

Everything perfectly healthy and leaves praying however around 5 days ago I noticed brown/ rust spots and purple stems appearing on fan leaves throughout the cannopy of one of my plants which has since spread. This is now begining to affect a second plant leaving the third unaffected. From what I have found online it looks like a calcium deficiency or a nutrient lockout. I tested run off with 6.5 PH plain tap water and it came in at 5.8 PH and 1400ppm for both plants.

What is this?

If your putting in 6.5 it should come out as 6.5 which tells me that you might have acidic root. It’s probably 5.1 so I would try continuing watering for a couple watering at 6.5. And try upping the cal mag if you’re using any.

Thanks for the reply bro.

I am not currently using any calmag as from what I had read online it was unnecessary with tap water (mine is around 200ppm). I'm thinking about watering at 6.8 PH to see if I can bring the run off PH up. Would watering at this PH be too high and should I bother adding calmag to the tap water?

How many ppm is your tap water?

Watering practices and pot sizes?

Pics of the plants from the side looking through the canopy?
Just measured and it is currently at 267ppm.

I feed 1L of my feed when the top of the soil is dry and the pot is light (every 2-3 days). Pot size 10L (2.6 GAL).

I have attached images below. The spots are now also affecting the sugar leaves.

Are you ph adjusting the ph after adding everything to it?

Water to get 20% runoff each time you do. This will help keep any buildup to a minimum.

Do you have any house water filter or softeners?

What is the ppm going in after all nutrients added?

To me it looks like they are going into a lockout.... now just need to find out why

I mix my feed then lower ph with vinegar to 6.3 PH every time no exceptions.

I tend to water until a little run off as I am in organic soil.

No house water filter, straight from the tap and left out for 24 hours to evaporate chlorine.

I just mixed up a batch and it came in at 705ppm. Why is runoff at 1400ppm?

Bump.

I have read on Bio Bizz website: Biobizz products only contain natural organic elements rather than mineral salts such as magnesium or sulfates that you might find in synthetic fertilizers. This gives All·Mix a high Electrical Conductivity (EC) value. And while its organic elements are impossible to measure, they do have a self-regulating system, which helps maintain the pH values at the correct level. I have just tested run off and it is now coming in at 2000ppm. Would this explain this?

I have fed the plants some calmag however the plants are still getting worse...

If it’s that much ppm coming out then it’s probably cause the plants aren’t up taking nutrients properly because of lock out. You need to find out why it’s locking out before it affects yield. Definitely try to do 7. Also it could be that one of the primary nutrients (npk) is to much and causing the lock out. And if nothing else check every leaf in top and under for bugs.

I fed at 7.0 PH last watering and no change in run off numbers. No bugs found.

I have ordered some dolomite lime to try and up the PH of the soil.

It will take a couple of watering to bring it back into range. Too acidic of soil at the root zone can cause root hairs to die back. Maybe try buying a soil ph meter? I would recommend blue labs if you got the funds. Lol

Hey there man! This looks very similar to my plant's symptoms, we're still trying to figure out what to do as-well. Similar brown spots and burnt tips, check this thread just in case you'll be able to find any useful info!

What's your current situation by the way, did the leaves got better?

While I haven’t used it, I’ve experimented with vinegar as PH down. I’m sure others could offer more technical explanations but in my experiments I found it to be quite unstable.
For me the additional cost of PH down is worth the piece of mind.

I suspect this could be a component you're dealing with in regards to the PH fluctuations & subsequent lockout causing the elevated readings.

BioBizz PH Down is basically citric acid tho. (quoting their website: Bio·Down is an aqueous solution made of citric acid found naturally in different citrus fruits, such as lemons. ) But I agree with Citric acid being kinda unstable, read a lot of info on this and majority seem to be of a same mind. Here's a link I found that might be useful for PH adjusting btw!

Appreciate the link. I’ll add it to my reading list.

Are giving plain non RO water every 3rd watering like the mfg'r suggests?

He shouldnt really need to ph after fert additions. He should be adding ferts to buffered water and just adding enough to bring the ph to 6.1 to 6.3 like the bottle says...your nutes may have gotten too warm at some point too.. these nutes are really temp sensitive....75ish is what temp they should be stored at

Stop using vinegar.
