The good news is already out that VA will be the 16th state (first in the South) to legalize. We can expect full legalization, recreational dispensaries and the whole works by 2024. That's great, but I'm pretty sure there's a meeting going on in the General Assembly as I'm making this post to amend the current legislation to allow for legalization and home cultivation by July 2021! Not that I'm excited or paying close attention, but that's just 83 days and 11 hours away! šŸ˜„

Our good Guv make the proposal last week and I believe they're voting on the amendment today. Given that Dems won the legislative trifecta again this time around the measure seems likely to pass, maybe with some bipartisan support as well. Hopefully I can report back here in a few hours or tomorrow to confirm the good news.

But yeah, hi there, and nice to meet you guys. Long time reader, new poster, etc. I'm planning to do an indoor-organic-soil-tent grow for my first foray into this venture. I've been in sponge mode trying to absorb as much info as I can and I bet I'm not to first say, damn, there is so much to learn. For those of you familiar with the Dunning-Kruger effect I am now firmly in the valley of despair. I'm a hobbyist at heart though, so realizing there's a lot to learn and that there will be failures ahead is only more motivating.

Keep your fingers crossed for your VA brothers and sisters.

Peace,
Schwer

Half way there šŸ‘

"Virginia delegates have signed off on a proposal from Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam to legalize marijuana statewide this summer instead of waiting until 2024. Senators were still debating but expected to vote later Wednesday afternoon."

Lol, so what are they going to do to you if you start now:)
Get going no time to waist!

Hmm.. Not sure. The laws and penalties as they exist today no doubt remain in force until July 1, but in practice? Hard to say. Certainly nothing stopping us from planning and buying up equipment!

Rite now your local DA is drafting rules to stop enforcement of marijuana laws and telling your state county and city law enforcement to stop any marijuana enforcement to an extent.
most likely all current charges for marijuana will be dropped to an extent.

Yeah, that's kinda what I'd expect, a lame duck period. Nobody would ever notice me, anyway.

Sorry to hijack your thread, Schwer. SUPER jazzed, is all.

Ha, honestly if I didn't have some long-ish vacations planned in May and June I would. Also, knowing what the hell I'm doing should probably take some precedence.

Not at all, my friend. As the title implies this is a much an introduction as it is a celebration. So happy for VA!

Yeah, still 2024 for retail distribution but I wouldn't be surprised if some of those donation-only delivery services cropped up like they have in DC. Not sure how VA would react to that kind of operation but I guess we'll find out! We'll try to find some way to make your walk through the woods worth it. šŸ˜

And yeah! If I squint I can kinda see the panda. Its actually a photograph I took of a statue of an angel on someone's grave at Hollywood cemetery in Richmond, VA, but I sometimes I think it looks too much like Michael Myers. Not really the vibe I'm going for but hey.
