Hello all, I have been growing with a coco coir medium mixed with organic amendments that have been working almost perfectly with my style of growing. The only issue I run into during flower is that I always have magnesium deficiencies. When I water with epsom salt mixed, the plants like it and start going back to normal. HOWEVER, I am starting a new batch of plants soon and I want to incorporate epsom salt in my medium instead of watering it in. So, I am wondering if any growers out there have a good rule of thumb of how much epsom salt per gallon should be mixed within my medium. This is going to be an experimental run for me as I want to try implementing epsom salt within the medium in the hopes that it will prevent the magnesium deficiency during flower.

1 gram per gal should be good. I run that in my grows to balance out the cal to mag ratio.

Also I would not add to the medium but rather the nutrient solution.

Reason being its not a slow release type of fert and will wash out quickly leaving you with the same problem and if you put enough in to last a grow.. well you'd have dead plants
Damn, yeah I guess I shouldn't mix it in the medium to begin with. I run an organic fed medium and I top dress once a month. Maybe I'll just have to add epsom salts with my monthly top dress feedings if anything when it comes to flower. I currently only feed my plants water from beginning to end and I honestly love it. The roots uptake what they need through my organic fed medium. Its just that stupid magnesium deficiency I tend to always run into during flower.

Magnesium uptake is also affected by the presence of other elements. In general, a nutrient balance is obtained by targeting a 4:2:1 ratio of potassium (K) to calcium (Ca) and Mg. This helps avoid antagonisms among these elements.

26.6%

So, in Calcium nitrate - Calcium is 26.6%, Nitrogen is 9.33% and Oxygen is 64%.

So your using around 4x calcium nitrate over all? Is that correct, with about a 3:1 ratio on the nitrat (to potassium), and the 4:2:1 ratio above. with say Potassium bicarb, witch is 39.053% potassium by weight. Is this correct?

Let me do some mental computations, because this shit really mixes me up.

Keeping the ratios in my head, and mixing them with those compound grams/per mole just makes my head want to explode these days. LOL I used to could do it.

Is there's any cheat sheets, that simply tell you how much ppm per element/gallon or how simply convert into grams or volume such as TBSP? with all the plug-up ratio's pre set? Just input your element, and press enter?

That would be pretty cool if you could manipulate your volumes, ratio's and whatnot on the fly.
