I dont feel there is a best media...best is subjective to our own situation. Each have thier place.

It's more about understanding the media your working with and using it properly. I did a fair bit of hydro and now I grow in coco. It's a bit slower than hydro and definitely slower than aeroponics but imo soil is a good place to start as long as you get the watering down because that's the most difficult part of soil. I say this because growth rates are a bit slower and if you have the watering down it's much more forgiving. The faster the growth the more dialed in you need to be with environment. In aeroponics when shit goes wrong it goes wrong now.

Just a small update and question regarding the plants.

I've raised these off the floor a bit and hooked the light up to 24inches. I did a bit of research and while there isn't much info on the canagrow light I have, I did find out it draws 120w from the wall. I dont think that's ideal for two plants, but until I get another I guess itll have to do.

Got a spider friend that's been chillin on one of the plants and I'm thinking that's kind of beneficial considering it would eat any bugs that decided to climb in.

The question I had was, while I know some plants will lag behind others in growth sometimes, I'm wondering if this amount of difference in growth is normal. They both sprouted same day, same soil, watering, everything.

Vigor will be different in plants from seed from plant to plant.

Spider is not a bad thing.

120w from the wall will cover a 2x2 area adequately for flower.

Perfect, once these are in flower I'll be able to throw them back into the tent with the other 75 watt so that should work out.

If these are an offspring off big bud auto and black widow, would these be considered F1? I read a little about hybrid vigor.

Been a week since I watered and it's still wet towards the bottom. It feels weird not watering every week, but I'm gonna let it go a couple more days.

I tied the stems down to give some room for the next top once I get to 5 nodes off the initial top.

Temp and humidity have been at a consistent 80F and 40%.

Every few days I've been taking a pencil and kind of been tilling up the soil for aeration, I haven't hit any roots so I think that's fine. Maybe it should be a once a month thing, not sure.

One plant has still made a lot more progress than the other, I just hope they even out a bit more later on.

I might as well add my other plant in here since itll be more exciting to see buds soon and also maybe get some tips on flowering ahead of my little ones.

This plant is a mystery seed grown under a hlg 288v2 at 75w in some really shitty potting soil I had laying around for a year lol. It's one week into flower and temp and humidity are 76F and 40%.

Waited 8 days till i saw the leaves starting to droop a little.
Mixed together a half tsp of silica, 7ml of micro, 8ml of gro, 8ml of bloom, and a quarter tsp of "raw up" totaling 1060 ppm and 6.2 ph. After adding the silica i brought the ph down to 6.7 before adding the GH series.
Was going to test the ppm of the runoff, but one gallon produced none. I'm going to throw in a gallon and a half next time so I can test.

Went ahead and just watered all three. The small plants were very very light to pick up and I think that gave me a good idea on what to feel for.

Gave them 1/4 tsp of silica and 3mg of each flora notes..around 650 ppm in each gallon.
Runoff was 1500 ppm with this ffof..guess plain water a few more times is probably what I should stick with..

After watering the leaves started to droop a lot, which I've never experienced from watering, usually it's been the opposite. Any ideas?

Also tested the lux and put it around 25k, I can make it higher, but the outer sides drop down considerably to 10k if I make it 30k on the inside.

Fox farm has nutrients. I would hold off adding adding any for atleast a few weeks. Don't overdue the light.

Some drooping is normal but try to water with temperature adjusted so you don't shock the plants. Keep them off the floor and as I have said a few times. Less is more... I can see this is going to be an issue for your first grow as it usually is with most growers.

Its hard to tell, but there are some blocks under the pots to keep it out of the runoff. ill add a table under them, I've just been cleaning it up before throwing it in there.

I really don't know why I added more nutes after reading how strong this soil is lol. Kind of thought 3ml wouldn't be all that much and it would benefit from other stuff they had in them, but for sure figured out that was the wrong move after measuring the ppm of that runoff.

The temp was 77F when i watered. I need to start letting the water sit before using it as I heard that ideal when using tap anyway.

Definitely going to be a learning experience, I've been told more is more up till this grow haha.

Also don't water to runoff until you start using synthetic nutrients... you washing nutrients out everytime you do that. Beneficial when using synthetic but not when in organic soil.

Makes sense, ill reduce the amount for the next few times till I have to add nutrients.

The runoff ppm of the plant in flower was 4000. I took it to the shower and flushed it till the ppm coming out was 250 then fed it again at 850 ppm, now the runoff is 375 ppm.

I'm sure the plant wont like this, but I figure 4000 ppm was probably a bad thing to let go later into flower and would probably do better in the long run.

I'm not sure if that was the correct thing to do, but some of the newer leaves were showing curling as well and figured it was build up from all the miracle grow I gave it before I swapped, it was like 28-12-16 I believe.
