How should I layout soil in a 5 gallon pot

So I’ve been growing a couple plants and I’m using the and the ocean forest soil. In the little peat moss pots, for the seedlings, I mixed both soils in a 3:1 ratio. (3) and (1) ocean forest. It worked well with my seedlings but now I think it’s about time to transfer over to a bigger (5 gallon) pot. Now my question is how should I go about laying out the soil for the 5 gallon pots? Should I put the ocean forest (unmixed) at the bottom of the pot (for extra nutrients when the roots reach that far), then fill the rest with a 50/50 mix? Should I just do a 50/50 mix and just leave it at that? Or is there any other suggestions? Thanks!

Don't layer different soils. Slight differences in texture between layers can cause drainage problems and "perched water tables." If you're going to mix, mix it all together first.

Idk I reuse my soil have for a couple years now same soil but I use Biochar and I re ammend it every run or 2 ( usually good for a couple runs) or whatever the test tell me to add I'd mix it in I double dig my 4×8 bed in the basement + I use alot of compost tea during a run

I don’t have problems doing that. For example straight SOHUM in lower half and SOHUM mixed 50/50 with seed starter mix. Both are same soils, only the upper has inert seed starter mixed in to cool it down so to speak. No problems at all, SOHUM is good stuff but pricey.

Can I use this perlite

I was looking for a perlite to mix with my soil before my transfer. I just am having a tough time figuring out which one I can get away with using. I came across “Black Gold Organic Perlite” is this okay?

Do I need any specific type of perlite?

I’m just about to transfer and was wondering. I’m using a 50/50 mix of happy frog and ocean Forrest and then I plan to mix some perlite as well. I was just wondering if I need any specific perlite or will just about any do?

It won't always happen, but if the soil is different enough, it can happen.
