Hey there, I’m pretty new to this and I got the extractcraft source turbo, a few weeks ago.
I’ve made every step exactly as I see in the YouTube tutorials but I can’t get (by far) the same end result as them. It is supposed to be a sort of light amber color but mine keeps turning very dark (I’ll attach some pictures at the end) it also ends super sticky and almost unmanageable and that causes lots of decrease for me. I’ve been doing a lot of research but everyone keeps saying diferent stuff and now I’m very confused 😔, I’ve also read that the color gets affected by the clorofila in the plant but the liquid (with the alcohol) has a very good color, just like them videos so, I don’t understand what goes wrong and when. (I apologize for my broken English and broken weed terms)

I really hope someone could help me out with this, thanks in advance!

Extract too dark with extractcraft source turbo

This is the drained ethanol after 30 sec. in the plant (Both previously freezefor 24 hrs) I’ve also heard that it has to be 3 min. Instead of 30 sec. but I don’t know.
Extract too dark with extractcraft source turbo 2

This Is my horrible end result.
Extract too dark with extractcraft source turbo 3

and this is the end result I’m looking for.

Welcome to The Farm!

Just based on what i can see and read; i am going to guess that you are not running any kind of post-wash filter system?
Additionally, I don't see any mention of a vacuum chamber which is not required unless your goal is "snap" shatter (like me 😁 ). I don't want to hijack your thread or force an opinion in any given direction, but i would like to help provide some ideas for direction. If what i have just said sounds strange and new; i would like to point you to a conversation/thread that you may find helpful. FULL DISCLOSURE: it is a thread I started this past January when i purchased my SourceTurbo with Xmas money. Source Turbo tinctures-oils & shatter (methanol/alcohol extraction)

There are lots of folks on that thread that may be able to add to your skill level and help you reach your goal(s). There are conversations all through out The Farm regarding this topic. I encourage you to use the search tool to explore the site and read, read, read. Then take what seems to apply to your situation and attempt to apply it. If it works, you're golden; add it to your protocol and move on. If you are not successful, rinse and repeat until you are.

Happy Growing 🍻🥂😁

Did the videos have any cuts in them?

Has anyone had any real success? it was $600 product I just want to see if they can prove that product does what they claim. As I have done it to the T with dry ice Büchner funnel filtration 3x with sterilization between each using my own grown zskittles and godfather og

We’re not doing anything wrong. The product description or something they couldn’t deliver. No returns accepted $600 paperweight and I did use a vac pump for filtration

I am not the most experienced in extraction and evap, but have some experience. I might be able to shed some light.

I have a source Turbo as well. The unit I received works as advertised. Although I have a couple of suggestions for future models, I havent had any issues with it. (temperature display and control would be nice) That is not to say there are not faulty models. That can happen with anything. But for the most part, my machine works as advertised. And no, I am not a fanboy shiller for ExtractCraft.

Extraction and filtration is everything when I comes to the end product. The longer the soak, the darker and 'greener' the solution will be. If you want amber, QWET is the route. I go for Full Spectrum, so I soak at room temp and pull all I can. I clean it up after extraction. I dont give a rats-ass what colour it is. I just want a clean and potent end product.

Just because you have and use Buchner Funnel, that isnt going to guarantee perfect filtration. It will take a bit of practice to get filtration right. It is the same as anything. I was a bit discouraged at my first attempt, but realized my mistakes. It also may take more than just one or two passes thru a Buchner to clean it up. Use some diatomaceous earth (Celite 545) for filtering as well. ALLOW SOLUTION TO FREEZE PRIOR TO FILTERING. DO ALL FILTERING AT COLDEST TEMPERATURE POSSIBLE. After Buchner funnel prepared for filtering, freeze it as well. The colder the solution (and all equipment possible) is when filtering, the easier it is to remove lipids and waxes.

Hope this helps.

I don't have as much experience with this type of extraction for me I primarily use my rosin press to make the solvent-less product. However what I can tell you from my experience is that the quality of the product that is used for your concentrates makes a HUGE difference in the final quality and color. The dark color is primarily due to chlorophyl in the product. If the product you are using is more leafy trim and has less bud in it, then it will be darker. The really frosty buds that are sparkly and have less leaf product in it will always create a lighter color and better tasting end product. This is my two cents Im willing to bet that your using your new extraction rig correctly, it could be the slightly lower grade of your product your running that is creating the darker color.

Well here it is. This is the first attempt at cold filtering. Very pleased. Before and after pics. Soak with 95% Everclear was for well over a week in the freezer. Approx. 1 table spoon Activated Charcoal was added to the solution and shook vigorously in a Mason jar. Sat in freezer for about a week.

Before: (dark green as all fuck)
Sorry, no pics. Wont let me upload pics from my PC and all the allowed picture/file host servers all suck donkey shit. Liveleak maybe being the exception, but it doesnt exist anymore. I am not a social butterfly. Forums are cool though, not sure why this one is so anal with posts.

After: (beautiful amber/gold colour)
(see above for pic)

I am quoting my own post because I am adding more info to the Source Turbo which was the premise of original post. This is info gathered from using the Source Turbo to vacuum filter. Just recently for filtering. About an hour ago as a matter of fact. Which I just completed for the first time. Results were stellar.

Although ExtractCraft endorses the notion of using the Source Turbo as a vacuum pump to filter, and it works very well to do so, I would not recommend.

Reason being is that I shelled out $825CAD for this thing prior to any real research (rotovap!). I dont want to wear out the pump with filtering and then not be able to distill. Source Turbo worked great for filtering in a pinch, but I wouldnt count on it lasting using it to filter as well. A piece of shit dedicated pump costs less than $100. I will get a decent 2 stage pump when I do because hopefully distillates are in the near future.

Dont get me wrong, the Source Turbo works great and works as advertised. It's longevity? Couldnt tell ya. With that said, I am going deeper. Need a rotovap!

EDIT: Tried to add pics to last post when I made it. Wouldnt let me. Now it did for whatever reason. But wouldnt let me edit previous post. So I quoted myself to add the pics.

Has any one had an issue with the source turbo that the heating element stop working, or has anyone sent theirs in for repair and how much it cost.
Is there a repair thread or forum anyone now about.
Thanks

You can use carbon, celite, clay and other media to filter your extractions
I use carbonX, which I got during its introductory phase
Now a bit expensive but you can clean and reuse it
There is activated charcoal but it does contain known carcinogens
Got into filtering when I was doing flower extractions for my edibles
The "plant" taste made the actual act of eating an edible torturous
Now use scrubbed tincture or distillate for my syrup and oil
Just made a new batch of syrup with old concentrates
Left over distillate from the darts, old isolates that I decarbed and some old two

A teaspoon of syrup will do

A bit expensive? Holy fuckin Batman shit!

1-10 grams = $25/gram
11-100 grams = $20/gram
101-1000 grams = $10/gram
1001+ grams = $7.50/gram

I was very interested in this product until I seen the price. I think I will continue with activated charcoal and celite. Would be very interested in a trial sample if they provided one.

Got 100 grams during the introductory phase for $147 US
When it got low went to reorder and got the sticker shock
Tried recruiting people to buy in bulk but it never happened
It cleans up well with warm ethanol and I lose about a quarter to half gram per use
Still working on my recovery medthods
