Hello everyone,

I want to start this thread to gather resources on all things organic growing. I was always a fan but due to laws etc. it's very difficult as a guerilla grower.
Thank god things changed and I finally made the time now to start a project very close to my heart, I am creating an all organic grow project.
I created my own supersoil based on the terra preta technique (if anyone is interested in my recipe, feel free to ask).
Got the first seedlings germinated and they are in week 2 now.

I once used to make compost teas to fertilize, but this time I want to check out the KNF (Korean natural farming) technique. But not exclusively.
I started studying the subject a little bit right now, but I'm a little stuck on my recipe formulation.
Is there anyone here that wants to exchange some of their info? (On Veg, transitional, flower periods as well as pestizides and other additives.)

I'm also looking to boost the fertilizing scheme with fermented algae/fish liquid, molasses, water soluble calcium, aloe vera and whatever else I can find to add in to the custom recipe.
One question I already have is I want to add silica somehow. Anybody got a tip for me here how to add this organically?

Haven't seen it mentioned here so far but my most reliable resource so far is the amazing team of natural farming hawaii.
Check this post out where they explain a little bit about the fertilizing scheme:
https://naturalfarminghawaii.net/2019/05/12/knf-cannabis/

Looking forward to discussing this! Have an amazing day everyone

Interesting you would post this in my thread and not your own.😂
Anyway, give some more details about your grow please (indoor/outdoor, from seed/clone, setup etc.)

I’ve been using the Korean natural farmInf method since 2019 whether it be making my own lacto or the cook rice in the forest method forgot the names but I do a completer organic grow I use lacto, vitamins, teas, top dress with alfalfa and kelp, liquid squid, worm castings which I get from live worms inside my soil in air pots( they’re doing fine) aloe and coconut water, I use DE for silica also controls fungus gnats as well, egg shells I do I ROLS basically feed the microbes no till method

First, this was a organic knf discussion right and you just started I’ve been doing it for a couple of years I was giving insight but anyway 3 Big yield autos and 3 feminized Blueberry photoperiod and I don’t do soil test I’m aware of whats transpiring in my soil due to the fact I’ve been using it for years and amending every cycle from seed and I got clones going in a aeroponic system I got 2100 LED watts with IR and UV in one tent and 1000 Led in the aeroponic tent indoor grow obviously and take it easy how you come across it’s a open forum fam

No soil tests. How bout a microscope 100x or higher?

Let me ask you what you put in your soil that you have to run soil tests on Recycled Organic Living Soil thats filled with Organic Earthworm Castings, High Quality Bat Guano, Blood Meal, Bone Meal, Fish Bone Meal, Neem Meal, Humic Acid, Rock Phosphate, Dolomite Lime, Azomite, Alfalfa Meal, Kelp Meal, Coco Coir, Crushed Oyster Shell, Humic Acid, Epsom Salt, Coconut Water Powder and Aloe Vera, lobster shell, lacto bacillus and a load of different microorganisms that balance my PH in the soil and I only feed water and other natural teas and these below are examples of end results

I keep hearing about KNF and how wonderful it is, so I looked it up and did some reading.
Do they realize this is the exact techniques that homesteaders used in the 1700's America to establish farms?

I have a pet peve when people rename something just to give credit where its not due.
Korean farmers and others worldwide have been doing this for hundreds of years. It kinda makes people look silly when they talk about the 'New KNF' techniques.

Well most of my inputs are animal manure from pasturing animals as they move across the pastures. Compost made from more animal manure, wood shavings, non edible offal, feathers, bones, blood, skins, fur, pasture silage, food scraps from various locations around my town, spent grain, fall leaves, fish parts and fresh milled clam and oyster shells. I think thats it. I'll use various fertilizers both purchaced and made on farm from animal byproduct. Humic acid exumed from dead tree stumps cultivated in the hedge rows where wild birds are raised and released for repopulation on farm. Compost teas of various inputs depending on soil test results. Limestone to adjust pH. I use the soil tests to monitor bacterial and fungal growth. Also for proper pH correction due to the soil type where I am located. It also helps me track NPK values on areas where animals have been and pastures that were rested. They also tell me where to spread extra calcium or micro nutrients depending on which vein of soil is running through the pasture. There are about five separate soil types in vascular paterns throughout the area that have slightly different properties to take into consideration. It also tells me what seeds I could run with the notill seeder into which pastures and which seeds will estabish well. They tell me what cover cropping options I might take to amend the soils in rested pastures. They tell me when O2 levels may be too low and subsoil is geting compacted and a ripper is needed to deep aerate the soils without completely damaging the root structure.

That kind of stuff.

It is called that because the techniques were somewhat revitalized recently by the koreans with massive government investment in higher technology small scale equiptment, for example the Jang Seeder. Korea also has some of the best soil and agriculture labs in that part of the world. It was the outpouring of small scale agricultural equiptment paired with scientific backing where this particular system got its name.

That is a lot of testing. Makes sense if you are a Farmer growing different food crops.
For just growing Marijane, that's all not necessary with today's organic grows. Use good living soil and the correct enzymes and microbes and you very rarely have to add anything except water.

That’s why I asked why would I test my soil because a lot of that is awesome for our mediocre grow of cannabis, there are 4 companies who grow and produce in my state and they aren’t even remotely sophisticated as that but rock on and Cho Han Kyu, or Cho Han-kyu, born in 1935 in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, Korea, invented the Korean Natural Farming method. All it is in going back to the essence of respecting the soil biodiversity, micros, and naturally producing a clean product

Sorry, but they did not invent it despite the claims of their government. Those same techniques have been around for thousands of years.
I will say they compiled them and possibly modernized them, but not invented.

Respectfully, The soil will feed the microbes, microbes feed the plant, and organic or veganic matter we place in the soil makes a big difference really I’m trying to switch off of bone meal want to keep more like oats malt barley alfalfa spirulina, coconut aloe pumpkin seed blended and make some great teas
