Another vote for Dyna-gro foliage pro. I like using it as a base all the way from start to finish and I'll use a bit of mag pro with it a few times throughout flower, as well as potassium silicate up to week 6 of flower.

+1 calmag and silica. Saw a product at the store that's calmag and silica all in one. Looked good until I saw the price.

I haven't used calmag in a pretty long time. I do occasionally use Calcium Silicate and/or Epsom salts if i feel that its needed but not regularly. Foliage pro seems to have sufficient Calcium already.

Do you promix guys add extra perlite? I'm trying promix hpcc and thinking I shouldn't have added perlite. I have to water every day now.

I'm using Promix moisture mix, so it only has about 5% perlite. I mix that with perlite 50/50. I'm watering twice a day right now, day 10 of flower. That was my plan though, I wanted it to be more like hydro than soil.

What is hpcc? I don't have that in my area.

Thanks! It sounds like you increase the size of the pot as the plant grows? Right now I use a nursery bag to start and then it's straight to a 5 gal grow bag. But I could see benefit in incrementing (saving water, improve availability, offer potential application of mycorrhizae such as great white)
Yea, those are actually just the different size pot saucers, but your right on that front. Say nursery bags, or solo cups, I don't go any bigger than that at first. I actually start some in plastic shot glasses even, then up to solo size, then up to gallon, then up to 3 gallon and so forth... General rule of thumb I would say, don't go bigger than 3-5x than your current size.

Also, plan those transplants, so that your not disrupting your roots. So that means, you can use thin bags at first, and simply put that into your next size up (without removing it) or using a method that keeps your roots undisturbed. I also like transplanting when everything is dry, so you don't have heavy soil pulling on various spots.

Promih hp + coco. Not sure of the ratios. I added about 10-15% perlite - probably shouldn't have idk. Might try without next time.

Oh ok, the promix I have also has coco in it, but it's only about 10% coco, 80-90% peat moss and about 5% perlite. That's why I mix so much perlite into it.

@Dirtbag is your man here in this thread. He will sort you out.

A couple of things.
1. I know it's common. Using soil and then feeding commercial foods is to my mind, a waste of good soil. Soil IS food, just not digested yet. Soil is for organic.
Non-organic feeding is best in coco or something similar. Using soil here can throw off any or all of your test results. Didn't Momma tell you not to waste food? 😂
You should always expect complications when mixing media and nute types.
2. I see a lot of people that do not understand watering. Here are two articles to read for a much better understanding of watering and pot types.

I've had no issues using 10 liters of worm castings per promix bale. I add 2 gallons of water to a 5 gallon pot. It flows out a bit. I use a cheap moisture gauge. No issues feeding every water. 3 week flush. Gets really dry between watering.

Ok
Okay friends please help me out, I've tried to research on my own but either the advice has too much jargon for the newbie that I am or it's not advice tailored to my grow.

Details To know...
Mars hydro LED
Pro-mix HP medium mixed with 30% worm castings (most have suggested that's a bit much, some suggested I don't use EWC at all...)
Using a 3-1-3 nute (iguana juice, switching to bloom at flowering stage)

Packaging says mix 4 ml per liter per so I do about 14-15 per gallon but the more I read the more I hear people say go ahead and half that.

Temp is 75-80 lights on, 66ish lights off with a 18-6 light schedule
Humidity is around 50%
I'm growing autos (I know I know, I've chosen a tough road)

This is my first grow, there is a ton of advice out there saying don't over water so at first I watered so little that I was clearing stressing the plants. I then upped to water every other day schedule, the 4th day watering with nutes, I then saw clear signs of over watering so switched to every 3 days but now with nutes in water every time.

So my question is, when using pro mix hp how often do you water? Do you include nutes in your watering every time?

Do you test the ph of your mix before feeding, if so are you shooting for the 6.2 6.4?

I've seen printed schedules but I have a bit of trouble understanding them and finding one that applies to me.

I'll attach a pic of my healthiest plant and my least. I believe my least healthy one suffered Most From my early mistakes and have recovered a bit since but she ain't pretty.

Any advice you have around promix is appreciated. I'm exploring coco grow too but I'm really enjoying the pro mix hp.
so I am looking at this picture and I actually have a question more then comment but when my plants get bad leaves either infected or just unhealthy in general I trim them off now this plant obviously has too many yellowed leaves to take them all but am I right to be pruning the bad leaves or should I leave them be none of my plants have seemed upset by me removing the leaves if anything smaller buds below enjoy getting the extra light and this usually keeps more leaves from going bad but is this bad for THC or other aspects of the plant I don’t see ei trauma idk I take advice lol

Thinking about using pro mix next grow. What would the best/easiest to use synthetic nutes to use for pro mix?
i know this is an HP thread, but you said the easiest/best. imho go with promix bx with chunky perlite. the bx holds more water and using it alone is ok. yet as soon as you add more regular perlite/or chunky it lets the bx shine, you don't need to water a bunch and you get good roots based on the extra aeration. yes, i came up on promix bx for inside and outside.

promix hp, is made for folks who want to mimic hydro without the hassles. yet folks get that shit and start adding stuff yo it that undoes whathp is made to do lol. they do the same shit with coco coir and the famous hempy buckets as well. that means KISS keep it simple stupid and your plants wil reward you with the buds you want. many moons afo their was a mix that used both promox bx, promix hp and somethinhg else in a certain ratio that worked very well. yet, it was again making it more complicated then needed frfr.

when these plants get their basics of good aeration, water, nutes lights and airc circulation they just thrive. only we figure out shit to fuck up simplicity. especialy newer growers.

nutes are simple by default. start with 1/2 the directions and go up from there when the plants say i need more. many strains will be happy as is and only nute hog type strains will ask for more. synthetic nutes like DYNAGROW mentioned above work very well. i like dynagrow and the only reason i don't use it is because it's more expensive.

i used to use original formula CNS-17 from botanicare. those fucks changed the formula because they were giving us too good a nute that was too cost effective to suit them lol. you could use that i part nute with anything and the pants were always thanking you. i now have CNS-17 new formula because of coco aspirations. yet my last run of 6 fem plants were grown in bio-bizz lite and did very well. i used the directions on the label because nutes were given at each watering. no feed-water or feed-feed-water issues. straight mix one part nute.

yes there are many other simple synthetics like jacks and i have seen multiple jacks threads with various applications of it. which is why i haven't dealt with it. i want my grow to be bottom line simple this a 1 part nute. Yes. you can use 2 part nutes and they work fine. i just avoid them because of cost and the xtra steps to deal with them.

the dude who spoke on using multiple different mediums gave good advice and asking for trouble was proven many years ago with many dudes catching hell for doing that.

last but nit least is this. when u see the veggie and pant folks use a water can with that shower head spout it really does make watering the plants ideally easier. just pouring water direct simply is as efficient and the pants don't appreciate it as much. i put holes in a 32 oz bottle cap to mimic the bigger version. but rest assured i'll break down and spring for a real water can that obviously has a larger capacity and makes things easier and quicker.

years ago 05'-06' on Overgrow, Mole and Captain Skunk told me i babied my plants to much. at the time i wasn't doing a bunch but at the end of the day they were correct and i just made shit more simple and got better results.

I don't see any problems with removing shitty leaves, especially when there are only a few of them here and there.

I'm sure this grow is finished but just wanted to add my two cents after recently growing in promix hp. I added about 20% extra perlite, and I used AN trio and then added a few of their bloom nutes when flowering and also added mammoth P. I know there aren't too many fans of Advanced Nutrients but after using a couple other synthetic fertilizers I have had the best luck with these bottled nutes. My ph stayed around 5.8 the entire time in the promix and when I fed them I did so every watering but the only difference is that I first gave each plant about 1/2 gal of ph water first and then fed with nutrient water. This seemed to flush some of the salts out first before the fertilized water was added

Hi, I see this as an old thread but All I've ever used is Promix or similar peat based mixes 25+ yrs, Sunshine mix, & such...My favorite though is Greenworld VPW30...=30% perlite..( when it's available) Most of the other mixes are 17% - 20% perlite so I'll add 2 cups /gallon into the mix. I water feed water feed and I us the GH trio + Kool Bloom weeks 3 - 7 ......

Depending on how much feed I give them I try to keep my run off ph 6.5 ish so I'll add 1 - 4 ml up on feed only cycles..If my ph gets into the 5's I'll top with dolomite lime but that usually only happens on long veg's of 8 weeks or more
