12/12 in water to sex plants.

I’m planning to put cuttings in water on 12/12, to sex my plants.

Ive read a few threads saying it works, but others saying it doesn’t.

Anyone tried it?

I read a thread that said they won’t go into flower without roots. But a few 10-15 year old threads on here say it works.

Hope it does. Will save a lot of time.

Got 2 distinct phenos from a pack of archive showboat. Hoping one turns out good.

Finally got round to giving this a go. I’ve just not had time.

When taking cuttings I noticed one was female. Not sure about the other. Thought male at first now I’m not too sure. Hopefully cuttings work and reveal all

Yes and it works.
Found that out back in early 80's when i went "balls to the wall attitude".
I had ALOT of bushy plants that i needed to clean up for Flower.
I clearly remember looking at all these plants and calculating the work load.

While lollypopping, i collected HUNDREDS of great cuttings and threw them in a bucket full of water.
in between life, It took me about a week to get most of those cuttings for clone mode.
Many of the cuts ( i stopped after processing 600 cuts ) remained in the flower room in the same bucket.

When I went to do a little clean up of the flower room, The cuts not only had roots ; were flowering also.

30 years later I still flower cuts .

how many times has granny cut STEMS roses from her garden and put them in a vase on the table?

and boom, FLOWER.


not all types of plants/veggies need roots to flower/fruit.

i challage you to put a few cuts in a solo cup in your flower room.
a drop of micro nutes in the water and leave them alone.

your gonna think you discovered america 2 weeks later.

It worked better than I expected. Lil loose buds on the female, mini bunch of grapes on the male.

Might keep the male as a house plant. Great lookin plant and I can’t bring myself to bin it.

My first ever grow I took too many clones so just left a few in a cup of water in flower tent and they did flower without roots but tbh I don't remember how long it took to show, I think it was only slightly delayed compared to the actual rooted plants. They finished the run with no roots at all but they were just single little popcorn buds on a tiny stick lol

i tried it but it took me 6 weeks of reveg to get her back. heard you just stick the plant in 12/12 till you see the sex then put back under normal light (i went with 24 hrs). shits still a train wreck, gonna take clones and start over soon.

I ask because I'm there now. I have a dozen unsexed plants just about 3 weeks old and I'd like to sex asap to clear up some space. They're not ready to take clones off yet maybe in another week..but I'm tight on space in my flower room so I can't flip any thing else for another couple of weeks.....I just hate feeding and taking care of males then tossing them out. I had these males this year growing indoors.....pissed me off

Ahhh they look gooood..ive had some show sex at 4 .i pull off the stipule where they show sex and put on my magoo glasses to look ..i do that when im keen to see what they are..

These are not auto's they won't show until I flip them.....They all need transplanting into 3 gallon pots yesterday ...no room to do that yet...the house is full.
