Hey guys! New here... I’m looking for some guidance on seeds. I’ve found that there are a few breeders that seem solid. HSC, ThugPug, SwampBoys.... It seems HSC grows everything outdoors and organic which is different than my planned setup, ThugPug seems great but can’t find much about how their stuff smokes (are they more a breeder for breeders?) and my head is spinning searching for the perfect purchase to put the research and time in.

I am looking for something that will grow well in 3x3 or 4x4 tent conditions in the northeast (room humidity 35-40% in winter, 50-60% summer) temps are around 60-70f mostly, but I do have a heat vent I could open near the planned tent space.

The plan for gear:
3x3 or 4x4 tent
AI Cloudline fan system w temp/humidity controller
Light: Spiderfarmer SF4000 or similar LED
Medium: Soil

Im searching for a seed that would be fairly forgiving in these conditions and to a newbie grower (who is willing to learn and absorb as much info as possible)

I’m only growing for myself and don’t care about yield I only care about the quality of final product, not quantity.

I prefer sativa leaning hybrids. Love the uplifting (but not jittery), creative, fun, get stuff done like mowe the lawn or explore in the woods type strains. Love diesel crosses, Zkittlez strains, Pineapple express, Trainwreck etc.

Can anyone recommend a breeder and/or strain that is somewhat good for the growing conditions I listed? Open to any and all suggestions! Much appreciated!!! Thanks!

You will care about yield if you get dispensary buds. LOL

Look here in the forum. Click the STORE button up top.
Add a dehumidifier to your equipment list.

If you want to grow in soil, I suggest organic. You can check my other thread to see the soil and amendments you will need.

Awesome, thanks! I will look more into organic growing and check out your thread. I assumed organic might be more difficult but honestly haven’t read up on it yet.

@Ponky Sour Power (& sour power og), Pineapple Express, strawberry cough.

Sounds like you want to check out the Humbolt catalogue. Maybe find strawberry dream. Or something else that's good. I personally have had mixed luck getting seeds.

Seems like sour power OG is supposed to be pretty easy to grow ... Rug burn OG by Rare Dankness is also recommended for new growers...

I'd stick to something closer to or under 60 days flowering

There is such a variety out there. I just browse around until I find something that I've never grown before and looks good. If I do find I strain I don't prefer, I can always try and trade, sell or just give away those beans. I've also yet to see a strain that cannot be at least grown and harvested in minimum conditions with decent results.

Welcome to the farm ...

The only place I've seen ThugPug is on Strainly and the prices I've seen are for far more than I am willing to spend. There are many good breeders out there that are selling their packs in the $60-$80 range. Good genetics do cost money, but they don't have to break the bank.

Sativa is your preference. If you're looking for faster strains as @elduderito suggested, you might be interested in Cinderella 99 or something along the lines of Jack Herer. Both are around the 60 day time-frame to finish. Both can be pretty strong too.

Thanks all! I’ve been searching seeds and breeders quite a bit. I’m really trying to be careful where I buy seeds from. My buddy has been growing from ILGM stock and while it appears to be decent good grows, his final product always has no smell, no flavor, and very light on effect. Trichs look good and ripe, dried and cured well etc., buds look pretty nice, so I’m convinced maybe he’s working with weak genetics...just want to keep that variable out of the equation if possible.

Humboldt definitely has my interest, I suppose I just need to find a somewhat resilient strain from them (to account for my inadequacies as well as climate) Although, after looking up Rug Burn OG it sounds pretty awesome too lol.

Just be careful of resellers. Selling "Humboldt" but just giving you their herm seeds in a plastic tube. :(*

Any online vendors trusted for HSC? I see that seedsherenow , northatlanticseed , seedcellar carries them. Maybe some others...any of these trusted?

Well they sell seeds on this site. But I don't know a vendor well enough to make a recommendation. Someone here for sure knows though. I've heard seedsman. But can't confirm.

Check your local grow stores and dispenseries. HSC is everywhere. Don't know if its any good. I've heard great things about so many companies that turn out to be so so. I think I'm done buying seeds. My homemade seeds always turn out better. Cali connection is the only one I would consider buying again.

Cool, thanks! I’m looking at “Family Jewels”, “Jelly Rancher” and “Pineapple Upside Down Cake”. I’ve never had them...anyone smoke these and can share their experience?

I think that’s the hardest part...finding a strain that I’ll need 4 ounces of lol.

You need more than 1 strain. Best to have at least 4. Even the best gets boring after while.

We have more, but we always try and keep the 2 base strains running a 100% Sativa and Indica. We can mix flower for different effects to keep it interesting but the other strains come in every couple of grows just to add some variety.

I'm pretty sure that you have family and friends who will help you enjoy it all. lol
True...and I imagine that half the fun is the growing anyway.

Absolutely. I have something like 20+ strains right now. “This one is good for writing music, but that one is good for yard work, this other one is good for playing chess...etc etc. I have so many strains because if I find a “perfect for xyz” strain I end up saving a gram or 2 and wait for the perfect time for it. Really I’m probably just a strain hoarder lol.

yeah that’s a good idea. Right now I’m looking for sort of an easy grow because I’m sure I’ll make mistakes but if it works out my target is an “every day” strain that doesn’t make me tired. Since I use the heavy stuff right before bed (maybe favorite night time was BioChem, killer stuff). I called it weighted blanket because thats how it felt. Amazing stuff.

Im leaning more towards the Pineapple Upside Down Cake for my first grow, in soil, in a tent with LED. Am I on the right track for a first timer strain?

Impressed with all the help I’ve gotten so far in this forum you guys are awesome, thanks!!!
