Hey there! Thought I would document my grow on here to receive feedback as well as share my progress with anyone who's interested. I'm wanting to grow my pot as organic and natural and possible, let me give you the run down on what I've got so far.

•I'm growing in East TX, right now my temps are high 90's but come July & August, being in triple digits is a norm ☹️

•The seed strains I ordered are Magnum Autoflower Feminized & got 2 free Northern Lights Auto Feminized, these should arrive by June 9th and I will immediately start germination by cup of water & paper towel method. I'm planning on germinating 2 of the Magnum & 1 Northern lights & saving the others for September planting when the Temps are more ideal.

• These are the materials I have to get started:
1. 5 gallon fabric grow bags, black
2. Happy Frog potting soil
3. Coco Noir, already rinsed
4. Peat Moss & Perlite, if needed
5. Worm Castings
6. Ph paper strips
7. Dyna-Gro GROW & BLOOM
8. Wire for LST

I've read up so much on this and feel prepared but with it being my first grow, I know mistakes are going to be made. There are some other things I would like but I'm not sure if they are needed, please lmk your thoughts on these items:

•dolomite lime?
•a probe ph & moisture meter?
•watering globes

also, since I want to use as little money as possible and want it to be as natural as possible, should I invest in a ph up & ph down? I was planning on using lemon juice & baking soda for these reasons but I'm unsure if they will do the trick. From what I've read, the growing mediums I'm using are already in the safe range for growing and I've tested my tap water and it's between 6 and 7

----------

ONE MORE THING! Since I will be growing in high temps and watering more often, do I fertilize more or less?

I'm so excited to receive my seeds and start posting pics and progress!! So much love to you all 🥰

Welcome to the farm. Lots of helpful people here.

First thing I would say is that as you progress through your grow and post questions and issues here on the forum, you will get lots of information in response. Not all of it will be... correct. So whatever you do, don't assume the first answer you get is always the proper course of action to take. Get several answers to your questions and evaluate the responses.

I'm an indoor grower, so there will be folks with outdoor experience who will happily guide you, that will soon chime in.
One thing I would say that is missing from your list is a means of pest control. If you get a spider mite, aphids, thrips, leaf miner, etc infestation - you are going to want an immediate plan of action. There's a fair amount of folks here who recommend Lost Coast Plant Therapy products. I personally use Capt Jacks Deadbug because... that is just what I have always used.

For outdoor growing, I think you may also want to have a separate product on hand for when you go into flower to control any caterpillars (larvae that were laid by moths) that are now destroying your buds...

For that you may want to consider something such as Monterey Garden Insect Spray RTU (I like the RTU... Ready To Use. No mixing, no fuss)

Again, welcome to the forum!

Thanks so much, I hadn't even considered insecticides. I appreciate your recommendations being organic-garden friendly. Glad to be here, thanks for the warm welcome 😊

So, while I'm patiently awaiting the arrival of my seeds, I decided to try an attempt at starting a living soil. I put some rocks at the bottom of my grow pots and mixed up my ingredients in a separate pot:
1 part Perlite
1 part garden compost that has been maturing for a year and a half, it has small amounts of chicken droppings as well
1 part peat moss
1 part worm Castings
~mixed it all up and separated it into my 2 pots
~watered, gonna let it bake until my seeds get here 😊

I'll test the ph in a few days and add dolomite lime if needed bc of the peat.
