I have been doing LST on some of my outdoor plants and my question is.
I have developed a few cracks where the branch attaches to the main stalk. They have healed, but what I want to know is,
Is this healed spot now stronger or weaker due to the stress Crack and heal? I need to know before I do any more LST. I'm on the side of a mountain in BFF in Virginia, so ther are no issues with area or hiding them. Ty for your time in this matter

Not to worry it gets stronger at the break, If it breaks so that it won't support its self use duct tape around the stem to hold it in place and leave it on until harvest . It won't affect the growth...I do it all the time,,,pinch the stalk before trying to bend you'll get less breaks.

Yeah it will heal and get a little knob where the injury is usually, and that area will be stronger, that's why some people intentionally break stems. If it's cracked down to the inner stem, like where you can see or feel the moisture of the stalk, I'll wrap a piece of press and seal wrap around the area for a few days as a bandaid until it starts to heal, just to keep out bacteria, mold or bugs from infiltrating the stem, bud worms live in the stems and love an open door... just don't forget to take the wrap off after a few days because the stem will start to degrade without air... you can also use tape or whatever you have on hand, just gently clip it away once she starts to heal.

" , just gently clip it away once she starts to heal. " not with duct tape it stays on and it doesn't bother the plant or stem.....after a hundred ++ times I've used it I've never cut it off or had a problem from it. Not elect, scotch, masking, or other kinds of tape Duct tape only....imho but I'm firm on that.....I think....lol

Yeah I think duct tape might be a little more breathable than the plastic wrap and stretchy as it grows.

I've used masking tape many times. Has always worked well for me. I have broken/fixed/broke again, fixed again more than once in the same spot from aggressive LST. Masking tape just keeps on fixing.
