Hey y’all getting ready to move my ladies to their final pots next week for remainder of my first grow.
I was thinking I’d LST these girls as they’re photoperiod and they should get huge. BUT I’d like to ask some questions first before I fuck this up!

First here’s my ladies
First time attempting lst looking for advice

First Question: I’m moving these to 25gallon pots, would it behove me to favor one side of the pot so I can train more across the pot?

Second Question: Once the top of the plant makes it across the pot to the outside should I top her?

Third Question: Should I remove all the foliage on the side of the plant that will be closest to the soil when bent over?

Forth Question: In the photos below I’ve put red arrows on what I believe would be the branches I wanna tie to and direct towards the outside of the pot, am I correct?

Fifth Question: Is there additional trimming I should do as I start training them?

Sixth and Final Question: y’all have any pro tips or advice for a first timer?

hey im a rookie myself but the plants are looking good.
Personally I dont top unless I veg longer but most of the time I just tie the main branch down [The Top], then tie the shoots you pointed out with arrows down arround the pot
good luck!

I like to wait for a mature fifth node, then clear out below the 4th node (no popcorn) and use equal and opposite pressure keeping the bend under 80 degrees to prevent tearing.
Then it's just a matter of tying down nodes around the pot throughout the grow to achieve the anatomy in the last pic. This is the method I'm comfortable using after much trial and error. Good Luck.

Alright guys Saturday is the big day, I’m probably WAY behind at this but didn’t have room inside to get them in their 25gal pots,
Should I clean out all the big fan leaves and just have branches??

Well I attempted my first LST how did I do y’all? Obviously there was a fuck up where I got a little aggressive, hopefully we’ll recover. Trimmed most the fan leaves. If I did ok I’ll work on my other two if they recover from their current sick status.

Are they getting to old for this?

I would say that you were far to aggressive on the trim. Let them recover

Damn really😞 bummer I only took a single fan leaf of under each branch so 10 leaf’s at the most of each plant ugh🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Lol, maybe I over reacted. Just let them recover and you should be ok. They look fairly healthy, maybe a little pale. I generally don't trim my outdoor much, just LST.

I'm a topping and bending addict I top everything multiple times growing bushes not trees and when I bend I pinch the stalk hard so that it collapses then back and forth with the stalk to make it more flexable and bend in the direction I want it to go 90*+ without it snapping...even if it cracks no sweat just support it for a couple of days and it'll be stronger than it was before with a solid knot at the bend

So do I have the basic idea right with what I did do?
I’ll trim less next time, again this is my first attempt and got what I could gather from here and YouTube before going after them today

You are correct sir, one of the YouTube videos I watched said the best time to attempt LST was before a watering cause “they will me more flexible” so those pictures were before I watered them. It’s amazing how quickly they turned up to the sun.

Attention kopper1014:
I hope this will help you!
I wanted to 1st ask you if you had used a hps to start those plants?
Look at these videos to give you a better idea.
Channels:
Mendo dope: hoe to grow mendo dope training & topping
Pigeons420: all are good videos
Look at how to top a plant and f.i.m
Fuck I missed technique.
Basically topping just not all the way dwn to the internode split.
Super cropping & topping will hlp your yield
