Some info:
  • Soil - xpert nutrients microbial mix
  • Lights - 20:4 from germ / 3 x 23W 6500K CFL
  • Light distance: around 5cm from plant
  • Watering: pH balanced water with spray bottle as soon as the top of the soil (finger test) is dry, sprayed the leaves sometimes
  • Fan blowing breeze air above the plant (and slightly blowing the plant as well)
  • Age: 11 days
  • Temps: 25 - 29 Celsius max, was trying to keep it on the lower side
  • RH: 45%-55%

First few days were very good - vigorous growth. Then, 3 days ago, it stopped growing. There were days where I could see the leaves drooping which I attributed to overwatering so I skipped a day of watering before continuing.
Then, lower leaves started yellowing. Soon, in a day, they completely yellowed and the top leaves started yellowing as well.

I know that the plant will probably die but I am wondering, what did I do wrong?
Could watering too often (and misting the leaves directly) have been the cause?
What should my next course of action be?

I attached some pics below. (the July is a typo, it should have been June).

I think you're overwatering and killing the roots. BTW, cannabis doesn't need to be misted.

Normally I would say stay away from soil with nutrients for seedlings, but since this only started 3 days ago, I'm not sure that is the problem.

How often does your "finger test" tell you to water?

You need much deeper cups. Its over watered and as was said dont mist the plants.

How far away are the bulbs?

I planned to transplant as soon as it grew 4-5 nodes. I know it's not recommended for autos but I have seen it succeed.

Yes, I learned that my soil is not really suitable for it but kinda late (as I have bought it already) and decided to give it a try. I have read on some forums that while it may stunt the growth, the nutrient rich soil will not kill the seedling.

I'd say every day or two max was needed to get it dry. And as I said, I don't think I was overwatering it because I was just spraying it few times (on the leaves and the soil). Didn't do it till runoff.

I agree that it's probably a root problem though... today I watered it till runoff with pH balanced water and left it alone. I think I may be messing too much with it trying to improve it and accomplishing the exact opposite...

Wow Move the bulbs back to about 30-40 cm

Transplant in a solo cup and fill to the top with soil

Its not your soil thats the problem. Its how shallow those cups are

Too much light. 16-8 @20cm would be about right.

Hmm. It's weird that most sources on google (forums as well as sites), recommend keeping it as close as possible (if the temps are in check) hence why I kept them that close. My temps were never going over 28. And considering my wattage (69W total), I thought it would be okay to keep them that close. Any thoughts on this?

I always use 6500k cfl for seedlings. google is wrong. Every plant is different- 8" is a good starting place. As they get more roots they can handle more light. Mine get about 10-12k lux @ 11 days.
