An update on my not having time to fart situation: I'm quitting the job where I'm not the boss on December 31, unless I crack first (which still might happen). At the end of June I told them 6 months. Now I'm saying to myself, "Six??? WTF were you thinking?"

I'd really fuck up my bosses if I left now, and I like them. So only 157 days to go before I only somewhat fuck up my bosses.

They asked if I could help find a replacement soil scientist. Sorry, but the reality is that if you've seen one American soil scientist, you've seen us both. For some reason, 18-year old college freshman don't consider looking at dirt for a living to be exciting and sexy. These punk kids today...
Is soil science a lucrative business? I was actually wondering this the other day while watching soil videos lol!

Yes. Demand tends to follow the housing market, but climate change has also blown the roof off for us. The company I'm quitting at the end of the year is heavily involved in climate change issues. I'll still work with them, but only in my spare time.

Thanks for your kind response. Did you have a drainage system installed? What's the advantage of these denser pebbles?

It really looks like a heavy yield, what kind of lamp was used?
600 watt hps . There was a drainage system installed , but nothing flashy . I watered by hand with something I dont now the name of in English. The smaller pebbles are able to hold more water while without affecting the ability to flush and drain fast . It was very easy to change EC and PH levels around the roots very fast. I did have to use a lot of acid to bring down PH level all the time . The baken clay obviously reacted with acid all the time , I thought that this was a big disadvantage , but now I'm thinking , that it probably produced CO2 !

As soon as the seeds sprout I alway's give them full power light. To do this you need to be very alert that the upper layer of whatever they are planted in doesn't dry out.
I believe that full power light right away will affect the rest of the plants live all the way to harvest. When you do this they have no reason to increase in hight and they will grow very wide instead

Yes, there are many physiological changes documented with how leaves grow in response to the light environment.
I'm curious did you use reg seeds and how was your male to female ratio?

just to get this straight, you increased the photoperiod in the first week to 18h by letting a 400W metal halide run after the 12h of 600W HPS?

No not after but during , 3 hrs hps, 6 hours both , 3 hrs hps again. I had more female plants. it were reg seeds.

I don't do this normally but I may if I do another sealed room. Had setup a CO2 injection system in a 40ft container build. Hooked up a 50lb tank to the PPM controller turned it on and closed up the room. Stupid mistake. Didn't check the tank valve where the flow level meter is. It had a hairline crack and CO2 was escaping. Came in the next day only to find the tank empty! WTF? Checked the air quality log and saw the room got up to as high as 4000ppm! Oh Shit! I was sure it was going to kill the crop. Pulled some FAT colas out of that session!!!

How to grow seedlings mid summer in direct sunlight.

16oz styro cups stay on them until the leaflets are big enough they touch the sides of the cups. They can get weened into full sun without the cup at that point, carefully.
The cup diffuses light so the plant doesn't know where the sun is at any given moment so it just grows perfectly uniform and straight up, while insulated from scorching heat and sun. The holes are optional, i also use these for clones/seedlings so they need drain holes.
