I think it's a plant per person in the house hold. But who's going around checking? I don't have to much space so I'm going to try for at least a pound.

Ok so let me know the carbon system filters that are the best to get with the vivisun tents. I'm going to order everything this weekend. Do those AC infinity come with any stuff with them? Or do I need to buy the lights and stuff?

So it seems like I need a tent, lights, fans, dirt, and seeds and carbon filters. Am I missing anything? I'm scared the lights might got hot and burn things so please let me know which ones are the less dangerous. I would think the lights would be the most important, what brand of lights is good?
Which carbon filter system and the light you purchase will depend on your tent size. For a small grow, this tent would be ideal:

or

Shop around because I'm sure you can beat those prices.

I would go with a 6" carbon scrubber kit with a fan speed controller. This is a bit more fan than you need but the larger fan will allow you to turn it down with the fan speed controller and keep the noise level lower.

If you go with a 4' x 4' tent, there are a number of very nice bar lights that would work well in there. Our sponsor, SpiderFarmer, would be a good place to start. You would need about 480 watts of lighting.

If you go with the 60" x 32", you will need about 400 watts of lighting. Again, SpiderFarmer can fix you up.

Good Brands: Actually there's a lot of them. I suggested SpiderFarmer because they are priced with the home hobby grower in mind. Others will chime in with their suggestions.

Besides the soil, the pots, and the seeds ... You'll need some small fans in the tent itself to provide airflow through the plants.

DYI is like 1/5 the price what they would charge. Anyone with some basic tools can easily build their own grow box :) Back in 2008 when I was still living in my parents house I used an old computer cardboard box and built myself a little 3'x2'x1' space. I made my own custom charcoal filter, and for ventilation I had computer case fans with thermo sensors, the grow light I was using was a 65w Hans panel and that was my very first grow. I think I got 60g out of that box my first try.

That dresser I posted brand new is like $200 I'm sure you could find a smacking deal on Facebook marketplace or Kijiji. Paint it flat white. Drill a 4 or 6" circular hole for your exhaust fan and then cut out some rectangular passive intakes that you can cover with some mesh material. I know you like my Mspaint skills:

Then you hang your light with some ratchet straps and some eye bolts to the "roof" along with the carbon filter & exhaust fan.

DIY ftw imo as well. Total newb but like to think I am learning. A neighbor across street had old working fridge in their garage. I asked if I could have it if ever she dumped it and whalla. I was hoping to do some research on what it would take to convert it into a drying chamber. I have a 3x3 tent I can dry in but I feel like I could DIY a fridge to work better than the tent. Just don't know how yet 🧐

There's several people on this forum who are using refrigeration to dry/cure their buds. One person is using an old wine cooler and a thermostat to keep temps in the upper 50's/low 60's. @Observationist mentioned he's experimenting with a refrigerator to finish drying and cure his buds.

He's likely to stop by this thread since I called him. lol

I'm in NY and we can grow weed now. Wanted to get something like a grow box that is discreet and can grow at least a pound. I see they have some that work with smart phones are these a gimmick or can someone grow high quality weed with them? Can someone recommend some brand named ones or lower priced ones that do the same as the high priced grow box
Welcome to the Dojo(Farm) and just my opinion but you will likely need a 4x4 and 600ish watts to pull off a pound. 2 plants, 4 plants, 8 plants, you still only have 16sq/ft x your height to work with. My 1st grow I got 13oz from 4 plants and my 2nd grow I am really aiming for 16+ as a goal but it is not easy imo. You are definitely in the right place if you want to figure it out though. Best of luck on your journey and like everyone said above, hell naw to any pre-made grow-box shit

Thanks much. Yeah I have a small wine fridge someone gifted to me. I set it at 62 degrees and just put the grove bags inside that. Now I want to jimmy-rig the large fridge so I can dry in it before going to grove bags. I am in Arizona and would love to know what a 10 day or longer dry is like

This is strain dependent. Some strains are better yielding than others but after a couple of grows to gain experience, a grower should be able to pull 4-6 oz per plant. 4 oz x 4 plants = 1 pound. Easily do-able in either of those tents or in a DIY box like @Shaded_One suggested.

See what homie doesn't mention here in this pic is that he ended up harvesting just over 8 grams dry but spent over a G to do it 🤣

ohh yeah for sure. Cultivars have such a key role and don't get me wrong. Do-able for sure. Many of yall I am sure can pull a lb with 1 plant in a 4x4 or maybe even 3x3. What I meant is that it for sure takes some solid work and knowledge to learn how to grow let alone pull on the higher side of harvest weight from it. I tried pretty hard to do well and still was short a good 3zips from a lb. 2 chem cookies and 2 white widows and 1 widow was 4oz dry yet the other less than half. I thought 2 cultivars was tricky so now I am trying 4 🙄

It won't take you long. Our first grow is always the biggest learning experience. Part of it is getting used to the routines because there are many. The harder part is learning to read the plant. With each grow those skills will improve. By grow #3, it's starting to come together. You'll hit those marks by then ... and improve there-after to the point where you can bring out it's full genetic potential at least most of the time. Some cultivars are just picky.

You'll want to focus on a 4x4x7 setup.. with at least a 480w LED light, (1gram per watt is doable without co2 - 450g in 1lb).

It will help to also get a smaller 2x4x7 tent to clone/sprout and veg mamas & starts in... but you can pull off good crops with just the 4x4x7 tent.

Yeah I sure learned a lot. Thanks to the farm I had backup any time I spazzed. Also learned that even though I had a lot of hiccups my 1st grow, both strains turned out WAY better than what I buy from dispensary's. Then I learned that "if you grow it, they will come" and poof it was only a month or so and everything I grew was gone 😒 and now I am back to the fkin chlorophyll headache nausea shiz from the disps. I say this becaaaaaaaaaaause, it was from the help here that I made the move to get a 2nd grow setup so could grow perpetually and not have to burn money at dispensary ever again. I set up my 2nd tent but just need to wait to flip to flower in a few weeks in tent 1 before dropping seeds for tent 2 💪
Hey long shot but is the "MI" for Michigan and if so, have you ever heard of these genetics? I have heard great things

MI is for Michigan. Grampa is because I have 9 grandchildren and one more on the way

😁

I've heard of the breeder but have never tried to grow any of their genetics. As for dispensaries? It's been a long time since I bought flower at a dispensary. Over a year. I've also got enough stocked up that I could go a couple of years without growing if I needed to. I am more addicted to growing these days as my consumption keeps dropping as I get older. Still smoke daily but only about an 1/8 oz a week. 40 years ago? 1/2-1oz a week.

If you don’t have an area that’s dark and cool, a fridge solely for drying buds will definitely work.

Just slower dry and be careful about rehydrating the buds/ a temp/rh gauge is useful.

Chopping and leaving the whole plant whole to dry seems best, no issues with mold (yet) from also drying in the fridge.

Start with this and get your grow chops in order.

If you're looking for a set it and forget it setup you will be sorely disappointed. Growing weed takes time, dedication and knowledge if you want to grow KroniK.

You probably won't pull a P the first time out, but you'll have a MUCH better understanding of what you want to do and the gear you'll need to produce what you are looking for.

IMO, to pull at least a P a run you'll need a 4 x 4 or, better yet, a 5 x 5 tent with all the fixings to be able to do that unless you are an experienced grower and know how to push plant performance. If you'll be growing in an apartment or house you'll need to keep the temps down in whatever room you locate the tent to assist in temp control inside the tent. You'll, more than likely, also need a dehumidifier to dry the air going into the tent.

Again, all these considerations will need to be ironed out before you do this on a consistent basis.

Good Luck and welcome to the World of Weed Cultivation!!

P.S. Don't worry about the first tent you bought. It'll come in handy when you do this for real and get your 5 x 5 setup!

Agree That little 2x4 will make a pound with a heavy yielded. Even a mediocre crop you'll get half.
