This may help explain some mechanisms involved that influence that.

I have read that over and over again and still don't understand what I'm doing wrong

there AUTOFLOWERS every says dont transplant autos
I never grow autos. But I would think the risk of watering problems would be greater than the risk of transplant. You probably transplanted before they had time to develop good roots in the solo cups was the first mistake. Then you put them in too big of container.
You ask how people have to water every 3 days in 3 gal pots; its because the root structure- the pots are full of roots. I guarantee if you pull one of them up - the container is not full of roots.

I agree i dont buy into the non transplant theory.

you just need to transplant properly and plants dont skip a beat

Potassium deficiency caused by a transpiration issue… likely over watering or under watering. High humidity, root rot or pests in the rootzone and VPD could also be contributing but hard to say without information on the grow

Blindly i lean towards over watering based on the swollen interveinal tissue and the serration tips leaking sap from high root pressure. A process called guttation usually not to much of an issue but can cause damage when under high light
