Whats up growmies! Hope everyone reading this is growing some healthy dank. As for this grow, we are actually flipping to flower today. As i went for one plant in this tent, i wanted to let it fill out my scrog a bit more. Glad i did because one week definitely gave me many more colas. She is looking healthy and eager to flip. One slight conocern however: I saw some damned fungus gnats flying around, and noticed some have stuck onto my yellow traps. So i stuck a fan aimed RIGHT at the top of the pot on high. Hopefully it will be such an intense wind that they will have trouble proliferating and gtfo of my roots. I figure if i water in anything like hydrogen peroxide, it will stress them before flower right? Maybe someone can step in who has experience in coco and fugus gnats. Cuz im growing in synthetic, i cant sustain a colony of beneficial micro's, so im kind of at a loss as to how too fight the little bastards aside from the fan. Maybe i should delay flipping to flower till i have no more fungus gnats? I probably will just go for it and hope they wont mess the roots up enough to affect my harvest. Next grow im def gonna be even more careful with cross-contamination in my grow area cuz fungus gnats are no joke.

I haven't ever had them that late in veg but here is what I use. 2-3 drops/gal for a few days and gnats no more.

I have tried the Mosquito bits but find this stuff works the best.

Hope ya get them sorted out!

Did you use this on a soil or coco grow? Yeah its kind of funny how the fungus gnats came so late in veg, we shall see what happens! Fingers crossed my fan blows them to kingdom come lmfao

Right? We were both half way through veg our 1st grows and he mentioned them and I was like "huh interesanteee 🤔" and then when saw they had them at lowes in exactly 4ft length and super cheap, I grabbed 6 of them and used 4 to make the flimsy/stretchy trellis extend to the edges by weaving it through the edges. It helps with the tent not suckin in when exhaust turned up as well

What Zombie is doing with 1 plant and the trellis and then flipping it whole once cut for harvest, now THAT is BambooYoda style 💪 #bamboosquad 4 life.
I like the integration of the bamboo with the line. Style points +100

Lookin right on the money bro. That scrog is just sick. You've got 7x7 for 49 cola spots not counting the exterior which would add another 30ish for a nice 80+ fatty cola tent. Gonna double in size and still can manipulate them under the screen a couple weeks in flower if want to. As for the damn gnats 😖 I like what Sporty is throwin down for sure. I just had what I think were baby springtails near my soil but some diluted 30% h2o2 and neem oil sprayed lightly there and around pots and nothing again. Are the gnats near your leaves or seem just near soil? No damage from them they just annoying?

Yeah dude hopefully its gonna be a total cola extravaganza soon lol. The idea of a table of solid super lemon haze colas makes my mouth water.
As for the gnats, so you just sprayed around your soil and on the pot but not ON your soil with the neem/h202 spray? I like that idea as its not as intrusive as a flush with bug sauce. I shall try that! I dont have neem oil, so gonna have to get some. In the meantime my fan is working overtime making life a massive pain for the gnats. War has been declared lol.

I run it at least 2 to 3 days to be sure, has done the job every time. Running it just one day didn't do it so hence the 2 - 3 days.
So for 2 or 3 days, i can water once a day with the anti-bug stuff, let it soak in the soil, and the next fertigation will wash away the bug sauce. Got it. If my fan+neem oil spray doesnt work i will do this as plan B. Trying to go without any insecticide as i hear cannabis likes to soak up toxins in the buds...might not be entirely accurate though lol

I love scrogs man cuz it allows you to easily get SO many colas. And you can also dry in place just flip the scrog upside down and dry.
Trying to figure out how to do it with regular seeds. I usually veg my plants for 8 weeks so I guess I'm going to have to add the scrog net after I figure out the sex of my plants.

I would add to be mindful of that fan and it's effect on the plants if your blowing it full tilt boogie on plant or medium...fyi

Pfft I don't think you can avoid it man. You have a sea of fat colas like High Times is on the other line trying to get through. You likely should consider sitting in the corner for a bit and thinking about what you've done 🤔 Shit is outrageous for real.

Hmm as for the gnats, I have limited experience but I am semi-confident my $.02 is worth at least 2 satoshi 😂

My experience is limited with them but only in my tent. I had only 5-10 total my 1st grow and that was in coco. Strangely enough, they seemed to be attracted to the chem cookies that had root issues like nute lock-out but avoided the more healthy and/or resilient/resistant 🤔 white widows.

I hadn't employed any IPM this grow till just days ago. Think I got baby springtails and they were visible on my fabric pots. Like on the inside lip near the soild and sometimes I saw some on outside of pots coming from under the pots. It seems definitely related to moisture and when run-off sits under my pots for 36hr+ I think I am asking for something to come back.

What I did was opened a box of neem seed meal that I bought and didn't return. I put it in a seasoning container and basically very lightly top dressed the perimeter of each pot. Neem is high in nitrogen so makes sense to go quite light in flower with it. I happen to have 35% food grade h202 and diluted that heavily, then added 1 tsp cold-pressed neem oil to 1 quart or warm water. Put in spray bottle and sprayed the perimeter of inside of pots and also wasn't afraid to spray outside of pots lightly and also the stands and drainage pans under the plants.
I read shit like -> HERE(meat and taters below) and since had little bugs moving around fast I needed to act STAT. Whelp haven't seen another since so they apparently do not like it. Smells a bit like coffee and dirt to me but I like coffee, and dirt hah

"Neem seeds contain a substance called ‘Azadirachtin.’ Different insects react to Azadirachtin differently. After coming in contact with Azadirachtin, some insects lose the instinct to feed and cannot eat. At the same time, some cannot lay eggs or reproduce. They cannot survive and grow in both ways, thus gradually reducing the infestation.

The ‘Azadirachtin’ found in neem oil has been known to kill Spider mites, Aphids, Whiteflies, Cabbage worms, Mealybugs, Fungus Gnats, Moths, Nematodes, Scales, Flea Beetles, Squash bugs, Stink Bugs, and Caterpillars. It is also helpful in controlling Japanese beetles, Mosquitoes, Grubs, Slugs, Snails, and Crickets.

It’s believed that more than 400 bug species don’t like neem oil. So if you have an insect problem in your garden that isn’t on the list above, it won’t hurt to try the neem oil spray on them to find out!"

I will say this though. I don't believe this will fix your problem if they are fungus gnats. This would only kill anything surface oriented and maybe a bit more but will not get to the "root" of the problem if they are in your medium. If you only combat them with external warfare, they will simply adapt by internally spawning. I really think you should consider Sportys approach as well and if not at least look into diluting hydrogen peroxide to drown them. If you look close at where they are, you should be able to tell where they are actually coming from. I use to have fungus gnats in my house before ever started growing cause when bought house 3 years ago I went cray and ran out and bought a bunch of houseplants and some home depot soil. Yup, literally infested with fungus gnats and I could not rid them and threw out all the plants. I never tried ANYTHING to get rid of them like I know now but I bring it up because I at least got to know them on an intimate level lol and if you look close you can tell if they are coming from your medium. If they are then my approach will fail if it is all you do. I also have mosquito bit granuals like -> HERE but I don't know if you consider that chemical or not. I think maybe a combination of neem oil and h2o2 and get it into the top couple inches of medium, and do that a couple times it would likely knock em out if they are there. One things for sure bro, they don't who they fkin with and it is them vs all of us. We got your back 💪

I have idea 🤔

You simply make "baby/mini bamboo scrogs". If tent is 4x4 for instance, take 4x4 stakes and cut them in half. YSo you would have 4 x 2x2s made of bamboo 😯

haha a sea of fat colas, High Times is callin! lmfao. I always loved High Times mag, especially when weed was illegal.
And yeah dude, I have some dyna gro organic neem oil comin, when it arrives Im gonna just hand water in a bit of it mixed with h202, let it sit for a few hours, then water till runoff with my ferts. I will repeat for a couple days, tracking the gnat population with fresh sticky cards. If that doesnt work, I will go nuclear and deploy the mosquito killer the same way, and hopefully rid them for good. We got 10-11 weeks of flower comin and I'll be damned if these little bastards are gonna mess that up for me lol. I think I heard one of em is speaking russian, its fkn on!! I will tolerate no Spetsnaz fungus gnat units within my perimeter.

Funny enough, I was thinking about this very idea yesterday when I was deciding which strains to run next under a scrog. I was thinking of building two 2x2 foot scrog's w/bamboo, and just tie them together with bendy ties until you wanna seperate them when harvesting. One strain finishes at 10 weeks, another at 12? No problem, just harvest one, seperate it with its scrog, and let the other one finish. Im gonna do this next grow so stay tuned to see how it pans out.
