THX

what are your temps at night?
1st thought is cold temps at night bring out the anthocyanins but that 1 leaf looks weird to me.
someone better will reply i'm sure

When I over fed my plants this black death showed up. I was using bottled nutes and molasses. If you are pushing lots of fertlizer stop and water heavily. Just mu 02

I will give some background to what is happening and I will keep you posted along the way.

Three of the plants that were in fabric pots have the "Blight". The one plant I moved to the garden a month ago seems OK. I grew some autoflower plants in the garden that were early harvested and were fine. Though, they were kinda small and budded really quickly ( they were called Top Gun-everything I grow in my garden is from seeds. Everything from kale to peppers tomatoes lettuce squash etc).

I have seen ladybugs on the plants, so they are eating the many bugs in my weed infested garden ( and not the good weeds).

here are pics of blighty plants...

I don’t know what it is but might this critter possibly be involved?

I cant tell if that is a leaf hopper or not? But yeah, could be that, could be the really hot wet summer we had, could be the Miracle Gro potting mix that they were planted in, could be earwigs, could be too much nitrogen, could be...

Looks a little like mine.
Hope it's not what mine got. Of course mine have gotten almost all of the diseases.
I think it might be phytoplasma spread by sucking insects like leaf hoppers. It spread to a couple other plants but isn't as devastating as Septoria or leaf blight.

I have to think it is some kind of fungus or mold? But the plant looks healthy otherwise. Picture from today, it is growing buds. My intial thought was lack of water, cus the black leaves seemed dryish. But I dunno?

This is as high res as my camera goes.

From that pic I'd say normal coloration.

I hope you are right.

The blackish colour started before the buds started, so I dont think it is mould. I guess I will find out in a month or so?

What are your nighttime temps like? Very common for many strains to start showing some color with cooler temps.

Night temps are getting cooler now, In fact it was really cool a couple of nights ago. but the black leaves were showing back when it was still really hot at night.

Wet and cool today, high of around 13C. One picture of the plant that seems to have the most of the "blighty" and the other one with the least.

Both grown from the same seeds-or at least i assume they were? I am not there when they do the packaging. Plants are wet cus it has been raining all day.

I don't think that's normal at all🤔 the question is does it wipe off? If it does that's not good what ever it is.

I’m going with the affliction that Cpurola talked about above!

The "Black blight" does not wipe off, it is in the leaves and has been since before the plant started budding, probably became noticable a month or so ago? Some theories I can put forward are:

It is only happening to the plants in the 15 gallon fabric pots, the one plant I moves out of the pot into the garden has very little if any of the black blighty. Now maybe I mixed too much composted manure with the potting mix and that is the problem or maybe the roots can not grow as wide as they would like to? If it is an insect, then how come the tomato plants next to the weed plants are not affected? The soil or fabric pot seems like a logical answer since the plant I removed form the pot and into the ground is doing fine now.
ANd it is not like the other plants are dieing. They are big and budding, probably over 7 feet tall now. Also the plants in the pots have a much deeper green colour than the one in the ground, which suggests more Nitrogen in the soil and who knows, it was cheap Canadian tire composted manure that could be full of anything?

The story behind the one plant that is in the garden and not still in a pot is because it was the runt of the litter and was in a small pot. I started them inside and of the 5 seeds one did not sprout, 3 sprouted normally and one was slow and small. That one I put in a small fabric pot, cus I was not sure if it would grow normally. Well it idid finally start growing, so I transplanted to the garden and it is now as big as the others and without the black blight.

And I am only calling it blight for lack of a better term, I have no idea what it is or why it is?

I experienced this blight/mutation before with in-ground plants. Symptoms are purple ish leaves and sugar leaves and considerably less vigor than unaffected plants. This condition did not spread to other plants within a few feet away so it’s likely a mutation and not a blight. Usually the plant becomes thinner than normal plants and even though there are trichomes in the purple buds, I chopped the plant in mid flower because I had other healthier plants to tend to. If it’s your only plant, then run it to the end and harvest what you can. Good luck.

There are thricomes on the new buds, but not much smell, it is still early though, even the "normal" plant has very little smell. It seems the blighty plants are flowering more slowly than the "normal" plant? But it could just be all the black surrounding the buds that make it appear that way. I dont think it is a mould, it doesnt come off, in fact it almost feels a bit brittle and dry. n This is a branch I cut off and then cut a baby bud in the bottom.

Here is a pic of the "normal" plant. Same seeds as the blighty ones, just transplanted out of pot and into ground. Spot the Ladybug, not to be confused with the Japanese beetle that invades your south facing windows.
