My harvest window is about to begin

I have 4 plants going and one is just about to enter the harvest window. Just wanted to share my harvest journey. Will be taking trichome videos of multiple buds every other day or so, until very close to harvest then daily videos.

A lot more cloudy trichomes are showing up now that week 8 of flowering has come to an end. I still think it has 1-2 weeks to go. Probably closer to 2 weeks.

Check out the videos. Let me know what ratios you are seeing and your current estimates for harvest time. It is best to play them at 0.5x speed and pause when the trichomes are in focus. Or keep it paused and manually move the slider to find a frame in focus.

I am using a handheld digital microscope. Link is the exact one I am using. Cheap yet effective.

Still seeing a lot of clear heads. Every time I think I see an amber head it ends up being the reflection of a nearby amber pistil. What do you all think?

Haha, I hear ya. Hard to keep the video steady at that magnification. Going forward I'll just upload the best frames of any videos I take.

I didn't get whole bud pics this round (lights turned on during video 10, haha), but I have some from Monday. You can see them in my grow diary starting here. Just monitoring plant 1 at the moment.

Once it starts to amber should move pretty fast, agree couple weeks will see more of that.

To get a lot of amber really need to leave it go well past whatever advertised flowering time is.

But if you chopped now looks reasonably done wouldn't disappoint either way.

That was the exact timeframe I was thinking too. Currently have it marked for harvest on 9/28 in my spreadsheet.

This is my first time truly monitoring trichomes before harvest. In the past I would just go off pistil color and used a cheap magnifying glass to attempt to see trichomes. At low magnification all trichomes look cloudy.

I plan to document this all the way through getting the buds into terploc bags. Plenty more pictures to come. Still going through my previous videos to pull out the best frames. Will do new videos this weekend to get more screenshots and then may need to start going daily at that point.

I think you're on the right track ... maybe 2 weeks. Maybe slightly less. Your trichomes are stacked and all have mushroom heads but I'm seeing a lot of clear just like you are.

I mounted my digital microscope on an old 35mm camera tripod. It's hard for me to hold the camera still enough for a clear shot without the stationary support.

I may use a spare light hanger and hang the microscope from the ceiling. Stabilizing at least 1 axis would help tremendously.

I was joking. I have a Dino lite I check my plants with but in this case I could literally see the color of the trichomes.
