I know you can colonize it but yea furnace could be full of heavy metals and shitI mean it really kind of depends, but there’s a lot of variables that you have to take into consideration you know, because for the most part, yeah the whole mixing ashes into your medium and getting benefits that way, but at the end of the day, you don’t really know exactly how it is that they make the coal right some people will just use a big ass blast furnace other folks will use a heating tube but the medium in which they use to heat whatever everything it is they’re using to make it is a byproduct that you can’t be too sure of unless you do a pH test find out what the parts per million are and then hope that it’s got zero salinity but as long as the pH isn’t too far out of whack theoretically you could, you’ve also got taken into consideration the size of the chunks of the coal you may have to process it down a little bit in order to get it to be a little bit smaller and size instead of it being just a space destroyer you wanted to aerate as well and not just take up a bunch of room in your pot you know what I’m saying I’d be leery of it but it’s definitely something I would try now that I think about it I would just try to get the chunks of it down to the size of perlite
