I used to fish the dams regularly when I had a cabin on loud Dr. in oscoda. I saw an evacuation notice for Loud Dr.
yesterday.

Yeah it’s BAD up there !!! I don’t know why I just remembered this but I saw you make a reference to Bunks party store a while back. When we were young we would go up fishing and always stop there for a pop and to read the High Times mags and the owner would always yell at us after about 15 mins “ those magazines are for sale ya know” 😂😂😂 good memories

I thought I saw something about a cold front coming this weekend. It's gonna give us in the South a refresher but I think I read up there it could get actually cold. So you have that to look forward to as well as flooding.😢

A long time ago in Toledo Ohio we had a bunch of rain that had some of the old historical feeder creeks to the Erie Canal and the AW Canal system running over. It just happened to coincide with a carp and sheepshead spawn and it was unreal. There were 3 foot fat momma carps a mile from the river in peoples backyards. Places that had not flooded in years and suddenly you realize your driveway used to be a stream bed and your house is 1/2 in the historical water flow way.
South Toledo had a few neighborhoods that were built after the canals were shut down and the land recovered. Some of these creeks were filled in but when the waters rose so high in the river the old pathways were revealed.
The ravine that I spent most of my kid life in was one of those places. An old canal feed.

I took these pics last week up there n water was high then. You can’t even see the top of these railings right now !! That landing down there on the steps is about 3 ft under water now too !!View attachment 2626412View attachment 2626413
Looks like somebody caught something off of that railing! I wonder if flood insurance is popular back in that neck of the woods? Out here if you are living in an area de noted as a flood plain I think it is mandatory that you have it!

I love exploring the dams. I ride my dual sport motorcycles, and follow the Au Sable River. A cool adventure. I did a thread on it on DRRiders website.
