So, I'm going to be starting a grow of some Tahoe OG from cali connect. I'm going to be growing indoors with a hydroponic system. I'm not 100% sure on size constraints but it will be relatively small, 12 plants max but probably going to be around 6. So the question I have is what is the best starter hydroponic system so that I don't mess up this beautiful plant from seed as I want to grow clones of the best phenoes for a longggggggg time, Michigan needs SOME elite genetics so can someone help me please.

bro go aeroponic
out of the hydro systems i find that to be the most easiest
for noobs and experts
although the rest is simple too
with this set up you wont encounter as much problems
as the other set ups
are you going to build the system or are you going to buy it ?

well I run top feed , in 6x6 rockwool . this seems to be the easiest since i dont have to worry about leaks or drips ! i just check my res every day and adjust the ppm and ph and then top feed takes only a minute with 6 plants . and on top of that you can alays adjust your nutes to exactly what you want each plant to recieve ...... just my 2 cents

Wow

Wow, I didn't know there was going to be like three posts in a minute at 5:12 in the morning.
Oh wait, I don't live in Cali =[.

I'm putting about 900 into the project, my caregiver who I'm growing with is going to be matching whatever I put in. So about 2 grand to play with, don't necessarily want to spend it all if we don't have to. I have no idea what lights or ventilation. I guess I should be reading into that too. Sorry, I do most of my research into the plant itself so a lot of this is new to me, the plants are prettier to look at than buckets lol.

lol , awesome
there are soo many ways in growing cannabis
from top feed , aeroponics , deep water culture , aquaponics , flood'n'drain , soil , neutral medium etc etc etc.....
$2000 is alot of money and should set you up nicely
with a complete set up

all im going to say is , dont flower with cfl's
waste of time
although they are really good for vegetation
just not for flowering , please
lol
there are 2 types of lightings
"metal halide" only used for vegetating
"high pressure sodium" used for flowering as well as vegetating

id go for just "HPS"
saves money

600watts HPS would be fine for your grow

ventilation is a must
and doesn't come cheap but you do need it

Ventilation

What all is included when you say ventilation?
Sorry, I just realized I never answered the question on building or buying.
-I will be buying everything. So, while I do have some
cash to use I want to use as little as possible on the
system, lights, ventilation, and the seeds while
getting something that will produce quality so I have
maximum resources to fix anything I fk up.

Aero

Hey strictlyHYDROid, I found a nice aero system. It's called the rainforest 66 or something? 6 plant sites, 6" diameter pots. Mind googling it real quick and telling me what you think?

nice!!! it looks good
but man , you could build that(or better) with not even 1/4 of the price it cost , saving money bro

there not hard to build once you understand the fundamentals

word. I built my 6 site aero system w/5" net pots for approx. $50. I built an aero cloner for approx. $25. do it yourself and save a bunch of dough! check HF for cheap parts, like pumps & timers. clickyhere!

Have you considered coco? Are you new to hydro or new to growing? If you're new to growing, coco requires a lot less equipment=many fewer chances for equipment problems/failures. The others are still good choices, just KISS is usually best.

Ebb and flow for both vegging and flowering. Look scary at first but are actually simple and reliable. Fluorescence for vegging and hps's for flowering.

Then like the other guys said, With that budget look into ventilation.

Does your grow system have any ventilation? I'm thinking I'm just going to get one 600w hps light. I've been doing some reading and it really sounds like aero is the way I want to go. Can you give me more details on what you did?

a cheap and effective way in growing for more bang for your buck
in my opinion would be to build a vertical aeroponic in a coliseum style set up
very easy to build
all you need is 4" PVC piping , joins , and more joins
through the 4" pipe you run a garden size hose with misting nipples spaced out between each plant location
then plug that to a pump inside the res
since its a coliseum the pump feeds the goods to the top
does its job then gravity feeds back to the res
just have to dibby up a frame then staple some film to completely block out the light

this is the coliseum but flooded drain

this is aeroponics

Colliseum

strictly, you know I would love to construct a masterpiece such as that but I really just don't have the room. The size constraints are going to make even that compact rainforest system a tough system to run.

Ebb and flow was the first thing I was looking at but I have my mind pretty set on aero. Thanks for the input though!!!

Does anyone know the optimum grow conditions for any of the Cali Connect alien series?

If you are REALLY serious about this you should either go with HAND water ed COCO, Hempy Buckets or if you must go automated your first stop should be EBB n FLO.
The main reason i say this is because you stated that you want to keep your strains for a long time and those are the three most forgiving ways go grow hydroponically. Once you have your room set and dialed in. You should look into other things like Aero. Its just when you get thing like root rot things can go bad real quick.:cool0041:

...you could also try two plants in different systems if you are only doing 6 plants.

Aero can be tricky for newbs- If you MUST, be sure you can keep your reservoir temps below 70. Aero likes to raise temps of nutrient solution to room temp, which often leads to root disease. Water/nute sol holds more oxygen at about 65, and disease is less likely to attack roots. Consider ebb-n-flo to start. Won't need a $500 water chiller to run optimal.

Cheesus is totally correct- look up hempy buckets. Easy, forgiving, and not too much maintenance other than hand-watering daily. That's a good time to inspect your plants for any issues- while you hand-water. Requires less electricity, also. Best system for beginners. After a couple runs, then think of upgrading if you must. You may find that hempys are perfect. Coupla crops under your belt, and you can afford to spend a little extra and maybe try a more complex technique. Just my humble opinion; I've coached lots of folks on their first few grows here in CO. Good luck in any case! oh, and GO BLUE!!!
