sterile male. has anyone grow a male and have it be sterile. i mean it grows and has balls, the balls open and no pollen in them.

i had a male and i think it is sterile because when i shock it over a plant i didn't see any cloud of pollen come out. anyone ever have this happen ?

i had 5 males from seed that i grew. i flowered them at different times to try to collect pollen but also as to not mix the pollen. NONE of them dropped any pollen at all.

the first one.... i thought i did something wrong. then it happened over and over. i read somewhere that his blueberry has a tendency to do that, after i had failed in collecting pollen.

more recently.... i had a few male dr. atomic blueberry jam( northern lights x blueberry) and the most handsome male was sterile.

Had outdoor blueberry that produced little to no pollen. With enough plants, I was still able to collect enough pollen to do some crosses.

Warm his roots and rub his stalk up and down for a few minutes before trying to shake some loose, just kidding. I hope everything else is going amazing for you and yours

I have two isolated males of DJ Shorts Vanilluna which is his indica Blueberry crossed with his sativa Blueberry. I am waiting for them to mature to collect their pollen. I'll post my results.

That's funny I've had the same thing happen to me with several blueberry males and some of DJ's other strains. Even had a Flo male one year start forming little buds on the very tips of it's branches no more than half an inch away from the pollen sacks. If you are going to breed with DJ's work it is better to use females, the males always seem to have a lot of issues, like sterility and hermie tendencies.

I mentioned it to him, he was already well aware that some of the males carry this trait. One of the many genetic quarks of his genetics.

Thanks. It sure seems like a very bad trait IMO. I have one of his plants growing now that has funky irregular leaves and bleachy spots all over the place, It doesn't even resemble the looks of an MJ plant. I am dying to see how it flowers out. Weird, man.
