    Major Trichome Degradation Post-Chop

Makes sense, Jimster. (Yeah, baking soda.) I screwed up by taking a chance on citric acid. I thought I read that, in cooking, you substitute a tablespoon of citric acid for a half-lemon -- or something like that. I intended to make a calculated substitution, but I was kind of careless about it...

    Major Trichome Degradation Post-Chop

Good to know about the hydrogen DB. Maybe I'm the first one online to have tried citric acid, so maybe it should serve as a warning to others! The degradation was pretty extreme.

    Major Trichome Degradation Post-Chop

Thanks for taking the time to read my story BW. I was afraid the citric acid had been a mistake, but then I wondered about the ambient light before racking. Then again, hanging crops from porches during the day is not an unusual practice. So that would point me more toward the citric acid.

    Major Trichome Degradation Post-Chop

I really think it's all in the text, but anyway I have no images. Maybe others have opinions?

    Major Trichome Degradation Post-Chop

Weird grow, weird harvest. Looking for opinions on which of my mistakes most likely caused my trichomes to degrade from full and cloudy to 75% degraded between the chop and the jarring a week later. All eight plants degraded -- some worse than others. While trimming, I could find pockets of nice...

    Lowering PH

I fight heat a lot here too with (indoor) temps hovering above 80 during flowering. This time I'm adjusting my "season" to hopefully mitigate that. But each grow so far I've dealt with some amount of seeds from feminized plants, which I attribute mainly to stress in late flowering. My last...

    Lowering PH

One reason it would be nice to avoid adjusting pH if it's not necessary: I suspect I've induced stressful swings while using phosphoric acid. (Meter losing calibration, etc.) It would make watering and feeding much simpler and easier. Early on I'd heard lemon juice was not stable, so I didn't...

    Lowering PH

Who has an opinion on RealLemon (or RealLime) concentrate? Wondering if it might be a little more predictable/stable than fresh lemons? Plus I always have some in my fridge. BTW, last season I was trying fully organic soil for the first time and decided not to lower the pH -- since my city's...

What happens in "the jar " ?

I remember reading that the point of no return was around 50% -- and that's been my experience. Not that you ever want to drop that low, just that above 50% you can still succeed in getting conditions stabilized higher (e.g., with a slice of lemon peal). When I'm just a few degrees below 62 I...

    Best Practices With Homemade Compost?

Just to close out my report on my first homemade grow -- post cure. I'm happy with my smoke, and intend to try this process again next season. I'm loving the feeling that I can incorporate everything into natural cycles -- from carbon harvesting (raking leaves) to nitrogen harvesting (mowing)...

    Best Practices With Homemade Compost?

Been meaning to update my progress on this first grow based on my own compost. I have a newfound respect for those of you who can take good pictures of their plants. My camera sucks too. Nine plants, eight varying strains (all feminized), now at 45 days from 12/12. Just my fourth grow, so...

Understanding Effects Of Water With High Alkalinity

Been meaning to update re my experiment (of not adjusting high pH -- see above). During my current grow, immediately after I switched from distilled water to tap water (upon transferring my seedlings to dixie cups) most started to crinkle, some severely (different strains). I suppose it could...

Need Help Plants On Day 70 And Trichomes Clear

Just to make sure you're not being deceived by foxtailing or bleaching: you've checked the most mature parts of the flowers with a strong enough microscope? I'd have thought you'd be seeing some amber by now -- and nanners may mean they're stressing.

    Best Practices With Homemade Compost?

I confess I have a lot to learn about calcium, but I've become a little wary knowing that my local soil has a lot of lime, and my water pH is 9 (but after recently discovering its alkalinity is only a tad high, I thought I'd try a bigger pot this time and trust the soil to buffer the pH instead...

    Best Practices With Homemade Compost?

I think I do. But are you saying I still want the fish bone AND the guano -- or choose one? Also, if I only mix it into the bottom half of the container, will it "cook" long enough before the roots get down there a month later? (Same question with the sul-po-mag, which is supposed to be my big K...
