How to Re-Moisten Dry Cannabis Buds

Re-hydrating dry cannabis buds is an easy process that requires just a few simple steps. Follow the instructions below to bring your over-dried buds back to life.

Step 1: Choose a Sealed Container

Place your dry cannabis buds into a sealed container, such as a Ziploc bag or a 1-quart mason jar. A mason jar is the preferred option for better results.

Step 2: Add Moisture

Add a few freshly cut fan leaves or fresh shoots to your container. If fresh leaves are unavailable, you can use alternatives like lettuce, apple, orange, or potato peels. Alternatively, a paper towel with a few drops of water can also be used. Start with a small amount and add more if necessary. The leaves will dry and shrivel when they have given up their moisture.

Step 3: Wait and Monitor

Allow the buds to absorb moisture for about a day, although the exact time will depend on the amount of cannabis and its initial dryness. Check the container at least once a day. When the buds have a soft texture and no longer feel crispy or brittle, they are ready. The smell should also improve.

Note for Larger Amounts of Cannabis

To rehydrate larger quantities of cannabis, simply scale up the process. Separate large and small buds into separate containers and turn the pile of buds over once a day to expose the bottom ones. Monitor the buds for any signs of rot. The process may take 1-3 days.
