How does one get better at growing? I feel like I’m not growing / getting the most from my plants.

I feel like I just go from cloner to the pot of coco, add nutrients, watch the leaf colors adjust using the deficiency chart that is a sticky from this site and adjust as needed. Flush at the end and harvest.

Any good videos that you all suggest or any good advice, I’m all ears!!

Just trying to get better!!

Pray to the @GrowGod daily and he will bless you with unbeknownst knowledge. :smoking:
Knowledge is power, some have it, some do not. Focusing on one will make your knowledge neutral. I suggest opening your mind to more then just one. And following a different direction then MirrorZen. He obviously does not focus on all the options on this site.
Peace

Every time a question comes to mind, research it, read and study then do some critical thinking about the data you read. Try some things and measure the results.

What does your setup look like?

I started with soil, tried DWC and then ultimately built an undercurrent RDWC system. I started with a T5 light, went to HPS and then LED COBs and Quantums. Anything you can do to optimize your environment will reward you.

What kind of harvest are you getting for your efforts in grams per watt of lighting?

I do just that but I find so many different opinions that it’s hard to know what to go with. I feel like after reading about different methods and what works for everybody, I go into knowledge overload and can’t decide what to try for myself.

Ill say the more time you spend with a 1 strain the better youll get..op If you are just running through the motions it gets old and you may never grow any better.... Try new things.....swing the ph..drop the temp... Add ultraviolets.
NOTE!!! The things you try may fuck up your plants too but now you know hahaha

Put all the ideas on post it notes... Put on a wall... Then throw darts at them and see what you get

This may not be a perfect schedule (chart below) but if someone could be this consistent in controlling nutes, temperature, humidity, water conditions etc. then I suppose one could reach an ideal yield for a given set of genetics. I try to mimic this schedule and each of my last several cycles have been more and more productive.

Do you grow from clones that have been sorted for the best characteristics (phenotype)? Have you done some mono-culture grows so you can dial in the conditions for a given strain? The problem I have with clones is:

1. Did the supplier of the clones sort for best genetics or do they just pump out as many cuttings as they can?
2. Are the clones actually the strain they say they are?
3. Generally speaking what are the quality of the genetics of the clones?

You could buy some seeds from a reliable source, do your own genetic sorting and then make your own clones. If you sort carefully your yields could increase a lot and you would be satisfied that your effort was part of the success. Also, you could do some back-crossing to get a hybrid that expresses a wide range of phenos and then sort them.

Pick a couple of small things to try different from your last grow or pick one major change like going to some form of hydro. Research it, ask questions here and then try to figure it out from there, then measure your results. keep detailed daily notes.

I agree with a previous poster on the idea of trying a DWC (maybe RDWC) grow. Its a big step but it could be quite interesting.
