Actually, there are only six legs.

Daddy Longlegs (harvestmen spiders) aren't real spiders but more closely related to scorpions. They have 6 legs and the 4th pair in front are modified mouth parts. They don't have venom either. They rub their mouthparts on toxin producing glands on their belly, to ward off predators. They eat a lot of different things from insects to decomposing plant matter and bird droppings. Trippy little bugs.

This is what I have called "daddy long legs" all my life.

Yup. "Daddy long legs" is used for cellar spiders (your pic), Harvestman, and some other spider I think. Like "potato bug" is used for sow bugs and mole crickets. That's why I made it clear I was referring to harvestman spiders. It seems to be a regional thing like what I call a ladybug in Cali they call a ladybird beetle in the southern states. Though cellar spiders are often called daddy long legs where I live too.

Yes! Unfortunately she died and we are down to our python.. she a big healthy girl tho

She's pretty. My niece had one given to her and it got near 4' before she had to give it away herself. All the ones I've come across have been very docile. Good pets, with a responsible person taking care of them.

Indeed.. ours was because the pet store sold her too young. She wasn’t eating on her own. She basically never figured it out and she got to where she was difficult to force feed. :/ but the python is happy as can be. She is a big sweetie.. although she bit my wife once. XD

Not sure if they are guardians, but these grasshoppers have been chillin on my plants all summer and not eating them. They seem to like just hanging out in the shade.

Not sure what these little guys are but there can dozens of them on one plant, never do any damage and I don't ever have any other insect issues so I assume they are good for the girls, I try not touch them they look possibly toxic with their colourful bodies
