.... And one more rookie question.
I've been reading with soil, I let it dry out a lot. To the point where the container is light. I assume this is the same with these babies, yes?
i dont let my soil dry out,if i feel coolness and or moisture in the pot there good, even when they feel light i still give the finger test,my babies i keep moist also, thats the key moist not wet or dry moist.
my 18 gal containers outdoors taught me this, sure they drain when watered, but if just water with a little droop they get addicted to you giving a drink when the sun is straight up,water them they stand back up perky, bad thing to do ,they need to exercise in the heat of day if you dig ,case in point have you ever had plants that are perky in the morning and about a hour before sundown, thats from overwatering they depend on you to cool them instead of them doing it thereself, then during day they wont to act like there hungry and droop ,i dont hate on them my ass be drooping too in triple digits, hope that helps a bit,but the best and most effective way to know when to feed/water is a soil probe for moisture, keep it between 45 and 55% moisture and you got some happy plants
