It probably is. But I grow in 2 3x3 tents and one 1.5.lx1.5x3 tent. I think 550 is way more than I could use.

Those of you with quantum boards. How close can you get your plants?
Depends on wattage. My hlg 600 on for 18hrs 18" is about max.

But I dim it to 50% I can do 12".

I use an app. It's not the most ideal but with full spectrum light I feel it's much better than nothing. It's call "light meter" by "my mobile tools dev". In veg I go about 40-50k of course I start lower. In flower I can get up to 80k with CO2 but without anything over 45k is good and 60-70k is about max.

I also use IR temp gun to make sure my leafs temps are good with CO2 close to 80 without 75.

Yeah I use that too. It's a good guide. I'm hoping at 240w I can get 12" lol

Sorry for my stupidity but why do you want to be so close ? As long as a good lux value is reached what makes the difference ?

I’m looking into the kingbrite 240w LM301H diodes with Cree XPE2 660nm + 730nm and LG UV and IR. The light has a switch that can control the UV and IR diodes. They are saying it’s not favourable to run the two in VEG. Only in flower. Does it make that much of a difference ? Would the 3500k option be more well rounded for both VEG and flower too ?

You want 3k if veg and flowering. No need for UV or IR (It could be debatable) in veg. UV from bud onset till a week or 2 before harvest ( I can't say for certain but not until harvest for sure)

so having the UV + IR switch is beneficial ?

I mean don't get me wrong having the added IR my help in veg but is not a make or break and your likely to see no difference. Same with UV tiny bit more photosynthesis but also UV damages the plant so is it a gain? Well it is in preventing fungus, molds and pests but typically it's used to help stimulate tricome production

Its just uva with led. Shouldnt hurt plants like uvb. And entering new stuff in flower is not a great idea. I would harden off the plants to the uv and ir early.

Thanks aqua. Just trying to understand as much as I can before I decide on a light that works best for me. 👍🏻

Good point. You are absolutely right I was thinking UVB.

Could you elaborate ?
Changing lighting can cause stress to plants and he is right it's probably best to use them either all the time or start a week or 2 before flower so as to not stress them in flower. Either way I would stop UV (even though it is only UVA) a week before harvest

No. The last weeks the uva will help with terpene and they think flavanoid production.

Yes but the very last week? I thought that's when you stop from my understanding. I could be wrong or confusing with UVB but I am pretty sure the last week no UV to prevent degradation of the trichs before harvest. Much like harvesting you want to do it after the dark cycle not only for flavor reasons but that when thca is highest in the trichs due to degradation from light and heat.
