After re-reading your post..it could be genetics, the grow itself, dry. and or cure.

Followed by curing in a sealed environment (like a glass mason Jar) while maintaining about 60% RH. Some don't like them, but I used to use Boveda 62% humid packs that worked for me, with little to no burping (before the dryer) . Best cure is about 60 days..and well worth it in taste, flavor and smoothness. During this time, the microbes are busy breaking down the chlorophyll, that makes for a harsher smoke.
Thank you

I remember Grower's Choice, but never ordered from them. It still could be alot of things. Autos cab be very tricky, and will not easily recover from stress which could be a problem..That would not cause the hay smell though. That is almost always a result of the dry/cure.Tangerine Dream and NL, are actually nice smelling imo.

I suggest photos next time.

I noticed with my autos, the genetics suck ! I’ve had great looking plants with very little buzz, it’s the Rudy genes I believe, cuz I can have a sister treated the same way that will rip ya! Do I think they are just unstable period. But that’s my opinion by the way I’ll be switching this yeAr to photos!

Its just like any seeds. If they were bred properly all the common phenos would be decent.

I’ve definitely knoticed the difference in breeders, learn as ya go , what to buy what not to buy , who takes pride in there work/product And who is just tryin to make a dollar or ten!
Remember it is always possible to get duds, and sometimes an unstable or wierd plant.

This was a DJ Short BB F5 Male that I wanted pollen from..He was great looking abd very stinky, ..but was completely devoid of pollen!
i was pissed to say the least, but it happens. There is no perfection in nature imo

I have found it’s hit or miss. Their white widow was garbage. Their blueberry kush was great.

I have been looking at these. My friends grow store sells them. Nice units. He keeps his finished product in it I thought but 🤷🏻‍♂️ At 1400$ or whatever I would buy a freeze dryer and go bubble hash rosin all day

I hear bad things about the freeze dryer's CS (HR) apparently they go after anyone that gives bad reviews..with legal threats.

Besides the base unit really wants the pricey oil less unit or you will spend too much time cleaning up after a run?

Light cure
Trim
1 week hang
Finish trim
1 week paper bags
2-3 weeks jars
Vacuum seal into increments then seal in jars.

To test mine I found a desktop lamp with a flat bulb covered it in foil and let a piece sit on the foil for an hour..
