Damn dude thanks! Got me thinking maybe I should go try to be a rep! Or at least get my shit back together & keep painting... when I left my last shop it was just such a bad after taste I wanted to bail on the industry completely. One of my teachers is a glass guy now for the same reason, bad shop after bad shop with poor management just kills the motivation...

let you in on a secret, previous manager of a shop I was at before I quit, literally a gas station attendant who sucked the right d enough that the regional hired her to be a shop manager...she had absolutley no clue how a shop should run. Ran that place into the ground for a year before they canned her for fraud. I painted her expedition completely on the shops dollar because she told me to, little did I know all of it was fraudulent paperwork...
Bet you never heard about an employee cooking meth in one of the booths on the weeknd at a caliber either? Company has so many little dark secrets they make go away with money its crazy.

The last 8 months since our shops buyout have been grueling. Never wanted to work for an MSO. I am trying to move out of the country this year so I'm sucking it up. Otherwise, adios Caliber.

Privately owned shops are dying fast and they're the ones that treat employees with respect. Proper management can be an issue anywhere but this company.. oh man.. the upper corporate structure is a convoluted mess.

One of their VP's was fired 3 weeks ago. Backdoor dealing with Keystone, LKQ Foster. Hope the extra cash he got from em was worth it...

Cooking meth in booths huh? Doesnt surprise me in the slightest 🤣

Nor does their management selection. It's amazing how mediocre people are given these positions and the corporate goons are floored when they get mediocre, poor results.

I lost a lot of respect for their corporate structure when I watched them do a pretty good regional dirty. His wife was having some gnarly depression issues after having their first kid & he needed to stay home to take care of her & his newborn. Corporate basically told him tough shit, figure it out or step down your outta time... ok yeah let me just leave my newborn & suicidal wife here to fend for themselves, no big deal.

Did the same thing to a fantastic manager when his wifes cancer really started taking a toll on her & he needed to be there for her.

Calibers moto should be- if it's not about the money they are putting in corporate pockets they dont care.

About where or what country you thinking of moving to?

Jesus. That's a shit show. Paints a pretty picture for those of us sold into their business. Wish I could say it surprises me but I'm practically numb to it all. Sad to watching good people be treated like shit and burnt out.

Aiming for Austria. Around the city of Salzburg. Keeping my fingers crossed man. Really looking for a change. The close friends I have over there love their country. And the quality of life standards as far as work/life balance outstrips anything we see in the US.

Couple that with child birth laws (mothers get 2 YEARS maternity leave) education accessibility, healthcare and socioeconomic structure.. yeah. Looking like a nice change of pace.

Hahahaha I hadnt thought of Arnold after all the time I've spent there. That's hilarious. AZ and TX have some pretty sweet areas. If I stayed stateside, Louisville Kentucky would be the spot.

Who knows where we will end up. Gotta try and enjoy the ride 👌

Dude.. Kentucky was a breath of fresh air after the West Coast. Traveled their for work and a buddies wedding. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Respectful people, great for fishing. Nothing but positive vibes outta kentucky lol.

I lived in the bay area for 3 years. California is cool... but fuck that place hahaha

What's wrong with California that a 8.0 earthquake can't fix?😜

Born here 61 years ago and haven't lived anywhere else. Time to move to Tennessee! We're seriously looking into it.😉

Hahaha the 8.0 will be a fun ride, hope I get to experience that! But all these do good Democrats afterwards will be waving their arms around saying, "look at me, look at me, I'm helping... you know Donald Trump caused this, look at meeeeeeee"

I wanna experience a tornado & a hurricane too... guess you could say I'm just a wee bit off canter lol...
Being from socal, I think I'm allergic to snow & the cold as well 🤣

I've heard similar stories. Some guys really like Axalta. I have a chip on my shoulder over the switch so take what I say about it with a bit of salt lol Lost my painter of 7 years due to the switch. 5 days of Axalta reps trying to push some of the most horrendous work broke him. Went to private shop 7 miles south and never looked back.

On the flip side his replacement came in and busted ass learning the line. Over the last month and a half we're hitting our stride again.

Came to visit grandma today. We repaired the fender after grandpa fell & head butted it, blended door & hood, Axalta paint job. Didn't tint, 1 out of 5 colors in the deck hit dead on. Only buffed a lil sag I left on the bottom of the door. It still looks pretty good 8 months later & she neglects it as you can see lol. Pretty sure I used the more expensive clear 👍

Another example of why I need to get this chip off my shoulder regarding Axalta. The more expensive clear would be my only rebuttal. Thus far - their base line is planted within my shop. I'll have to remember to post a few pictures tomorrow.

My goal isnt to bring my painter down (hes doing a kick ass job) but to reflect Calibers position of, "Most people wont see anything wrong with this..." literally had an RPM tell me that last week. 2 of the 3 cars we looked at came back yesterday and today.

Back to positive - you did a great job! Someone out there better snag you.

Thanks again man!👍👍
Ive forgotten the number on the gallons but I wanna say it was the one ending in 98. If I remember correctly 94 was fast air dry (2 fast wet coats) 96 was your med workhorse (1 dry 1 wet) & 98 was slow for the high end cars(1 med wet 1 wet) the reps will tell you the hardener determines how fast it dries (& it does to an extent) but that 98 def takes longer no matter what you use.

I know exactly what you mean, they tell you, "just sell it, they'll never know the difference". I didn't get in this industry to have to be a salesman, my work speaks for itself. It sucks to redo some jobs but it is what it is, if it ain't right it ain't right lol. & the customer WILL find it eventually!
