Too much work for me. After a short learning curve i will water about every 3 days at peak flower, like once a week before that and get back to 5 oz + plants in #3 nursery pots just like with ocean forest and perlite. I have grown 1/2 lb plants this way.
Dude, I get it, really, but how many times a day do you check the plants? I rest my case. I'm going to set up auto watering so I can get 4 or 5 fertigations a day. Lots of waste but still cheaper than buying unknown. The growth rate blows away soil, I've done the side by side.

2 days. Never seen this in soil after 40+ years. Ever.

Seriously, if I could get all of you to fertigate coco grows 3+ times a day I'd be happy that you'd see the advantages. I really want you to produce the best you can. This hydro sh!t rocks and isn't difficult.

I have been pretty happy with the results. And the answer to the question how often i check my plants is i take care of all of them once a day after lights on. If the weather is too variable i may need to go in and adjust fan speeds.

Im even considering trying nutricote mixed into the promix and try a water only approach for the whole garden.

Of course there are plenty of other tasks involved that take up plenty of time.

Don't you guys ever sleep? Me either. I've grown soil for 4 years now, and hydro for over twice that long and they both have their own pluses and minuses

No soil for you!!!
Sleep? What's that?
I've been sleeping like a champ, those 2×strength Edibles I made help with that LOL this is the first night I haven't been able to sleep (first nite I haven't had an edible after dinner too, forgot)

Slept after dinner for a while, slept right through lights on at 10pm, but I've been up for hours and it doesn't look like I'm going to get back to sleep I should probably just go make the coffee I guess ☕ Morning coffee is one of the few things I have left to look forward to in these bleak times 🤦‍♂️ I like a nice big bowl of hash with my morning coffee, gets even these shitty days off to a better start!😉👌

Wait, never use cal/mag? I tried starting seedlings w/o cal/mag (i did soak coco heavy) and didn't go well. Bubbly leaves. Weird. Since Oct been using recommended percentages and start 1 weekers on half strength for 2 weeks then 67% for 2 then full at 1 month. Working very well but 3+ fertigations a day.
hardly ever,i have most of the same liter of calmag plus i bought last year.i do use epsom once or twice a week in flower.i do use it when i first hydrate the coco @5ml a gal along with 3ml of a+b

Yeah with this canna coco I'm not sure it needs too much extra calmag using a nute like pbp that has calcium. I think I might have been overdoing it.

I also think I've been watering too much. Its bizarre because I see people like plumber keeping it soaked and doing good. But I have noticed I'm getting roots growing through the fabric pots rather than air pruning which tells me they are swamped and looking for air.

I think the switch to lakewater with a bit of calcium silicate instead of calmag and rainwater, in addition to the increase in temp and reduction in ec and irrigation frequency should help. I think going straight from clone to 1 gallon pots requires more dryback than I've been giving it. Which goes against most of what I've read about coco but that's what my gut is telling me.

I know Platinum cookies is the glamour girl around here, but I've been smoking the Violator a lot lately. Damn its potent smoke. Has a very old school kushy/hashy flavour that just stinks to high heaven. Easily the most aromatic strain I've grown in a very long time.

Not the hugest buds coming off this lady but they are tops in overall quality.

Also happy to update that my plants appear to be greening up. It's a little early to say for sure but from my eye I think the issue is resolving. I've just cut the feed back and held out watering until the pots feel like theyve lightened up a fair bit.

This is a different plant than my control plant, but the re-greening was noticable on quite a few other plants including this one.

Fingers crossed we're pulling through this...

Yup, going to the lakewater with calcium silicate is clearly working. A LOT more green in here today, new growth looks great. This is now exactly the same feed program I used for that epic grow in the fabric pots of promix, it seems to work well here too.
Just gonna go with my instincts and water when I've got dryback with a regular nute mix rather than keeping it wet and feeding a bunch of calmag.

What does your rez hold? And how much Cal/mag are you feeding to the gallon? And stop changing things like you did last time. lol

i only feed once a day with minimal rumoffs, saturdays i do a maintenance flush which is low ec unless i have a heavy feeder then i flush with my regular nute regime

Never! hahaha. Honestly even though it didnt look as nice in veg, those rockwool grown plants turned out to be some of the best smoke I've grown in years. And I like experimenting with new things too much to grow the same way every time.

As for my Res, it holds 18 gallons. I was previously starting with rainwater and bringing it up to 150ppm/0.3ec with calmag. Ive stopped using that and am now using lakewater with 100ppm and adding 50-100ppm calcium silicate, and it seems to be working much better.

I think what's been biting me in the ass more than changing up my media is changing up my water sources. I think the lakewater has something magical in it... lol.

Reason I asked is, I only use 10ml in 40 liters, and that's per month before the res is cleaned out and the nuits replaced, and I find this to be enough. The high doses quoted on most of the bottles are over-kill and will upset the balance of your grow, it then makes it hard to work out how much nitrogen you need in veg, and get locked out. My water from the tap is 220/260 and my plants can't unlock it to use the calmag or anything else in it, in flush the water PPM's don't drop, don't know why.

Is lake water free?
