Trying to look for a reference and this kinda explains it better than I can.
I’m growing organically and my readings are way off!
Yeah, this gets a little complicated. PPM are a straightforward measure for hydroponic or standard, synthetics-based growing. There’s a set number that’s ideal for each stage of growth, and that’s it. Organic growing is a little different. Part of the philosophy of organic growing is that the nutrients don’t just come from some refined, synthetic fertilizer. The soil itself should be fortified and made nutritious for your plants using natural, organic ingredients. Why does this affect PPM readings?
Rich, healthy organic soil is more complex than artificially fertilized soil or hydroponic solutions. The nutrients are stored in more complex molecules than with artificial fertilizers, that are released slowly over time. EC meters work by measuring the electrical conductivity of salts in water; organic nutrients haven’t yet broken down into simple salts. It’s like the difference between complex carbohydrates found in whole grains and refined white sugar. The organic nutrients get broken down by microorganisms over time, much like complex carbs get broken down by our digestive system. Therefore, the PPM readings you get from organic soil won’t reflect the actual nutrients that soil contains.
However, they may not be lower, as you might expect them to be. Why? There are plenty of non-nutrient solubles found in organic fertilizers that can confuse your readings. Remember how we talked about solubles in tap water earlier? This is a similar concept; many organic soil additives can end up adding acids and carbohydrates that are electrically conductive, thus throwing off your TDS meter’s EC readings.
Is it worth testing organic soil for PPM?
Good question. Due to the complex nature of organic soil, EC readings will be too inaccurate to determine whether the appropriate amount of nutrients are present in the soil. To determine if organic soil is well-balanced for your growing system, you’ll need to carefully monitor pH, watch the plant for signs of nutrient deficiency or imbalance, and learn from experience. If you have the resources, you can send a soil or plant matter sample to a lab for analysis. Alternatively, you could always rely on our simple four-step process for growing flavorful and potent organic cannabis
Where did this come from would like to read more, thank you for sharing!
These are great, your plants speak for the process, organic power!Cant tell you all how good this feels. Not only to be back at it, but back at it with Organics. I havent fed these plants anything but plain water since planting them and they look great.
Figured id share a few pics of my transplanting process, since i dont think i ever have.
I use an empty 2x2" pot as template to make the holes nice and even so the transplant slides right in without the need to backfill, and then sprinkle about half teaspoon of Raw microbes into the bottom. With proterra i know its clean and has no salts in it so i do this all while its dry, straight out of the bag and water it in after transplant. View attachment 1053654View attachment 1053655
Lloks like these are at the perfect stage for transplanting imho.

I'm quite excited to go back to soil for this reason. Its kinda nice that im not constantly trying to keep up with them lol.
That can mean only one thing ........time ......for ... PIZZAWent from stoned to fascinated to hungry real quick.
Thanks. Feels pretty slow coming off coco and rockwool grows.. Its even slower than promix with chelated nutrients. But i honestly dont mind. Its kinda nice that im not constantly trying to keep up with them lol.
They are growing though..
This is 8 days growth. First pic was the day after transplanting and the second pic was from yesterday.View attachment 1057341View attachment 1057342

I just always get myself into a situation where I'm nearly out of weed before I start germinating and I have this preposterous sense of dumbassery that makes me cringe at the idea of ever buying any.
So... y'know... Hydro Awaaayyyyyy!!!
That is me to a T... everytime I walk in the room I'm bracing for the O FUCK. I wake up and think O FUCK. But once I get back to clones I can relax and let em go.... benefit of SOG is not much upkeep because of the very early flip. I knew starting seeds 3 weeks apart was gonna be a major pita.. but uts even more O FUCK than I originally thought and now im time limited on top of it.It was sort of an unintended consequence. But i have for sure noticed im working a lot less with this grow. Coco and hydro it was like everytime i went in there, oh shit! need to top them, or need to trellis, or need to prune.. They grow so fast they can get away on ya real quick.
Organic.. not so much lol.
the color is beautiful!
They look beautiful. The symmetry of your grow space pleases tf out of me
Thanks man! I like to keep it as organized and well layed out as possible. So much easier to do with clones..
Seeds grow symmetrically until theyre mature and then they grow with alternating nodes.Interesting. Currently on my second grow, but it's my first from seed. My first grow was from clones. I reeeeeeaally liked the symmetry of the seedling as it developed the first few nodes and I love how strong and thick the stalks are - but that is probably possible with clones too I learned some newbie lessons on the first run (still learning).
I think right now I prefer from seed but I've yet to take my own cuts and run a crop that way. After this I may try to do a supercrop kind of deal to turn over another fast harvest of the hashiest pheno from this run.

Whaen i spek of symmetry in my room its not so much the individual plants, but more so that all the plants are mature and growing with similar characteristics.
That will soon change when i flip to flower though since i have 9 strains in here.
Question: Can I be using the alternating node growth to actually determine sexual maturity in the plant that isn’t making it very visible?Seeds grow symmetrically until theyre mature and then they grow with alternating nodes.

Totally. When they start to alternate leaves its a sign that the hormones are changing, its like its going through puberty. As far as I know, it does indicate that it's transitioning to its reproductive hormones. It won't necessarily indicate when you'll see preflowers.
edit: didn't see dirtbag's quote... listen to him before me.
