I know times have changed and what was good years ago might not be good now. I was looking over Jorge Cervantes marijuana horticulture bible to see how to fix my rust spot issues and on the contrary to what most were saying that its a calcium deficiency, the book said it was a magnesium deficiency And that the best and quickest way to deal with it is with Epsom salts. Either through watering or foliar spray. Is that just outdated info or are people suggesting calcium because calCium and magnesium rely on each other and CalMag has both and that’s what’s best for treating it. I don’t know if that applies to coco though. I’m about to give my bitch an Epsom salt bath if that’s the case lol. Any info would be great.

Coco is Cal-Mag hungry compared to other substrates and it helps improve the cation exchange capacity. You may need both magnesium and calcium so both could be right. Epsom salts can be used for growing but they very are high in sulphur as well and it sounds like you would be better off treating with an increase of Cal+Mag

I’ve heard that from the get go after I started with coco for the first time 1.5 months ago. I’ve been giving the recommended dose of CalMag with every feeding and this seems to be to the only one so far out of my 4 to show symptoms. I hope Epsom salts are essential items right now or I’m gonna get screwed until amazon ships some lolol. Thanks for the advice

Calcium spots show on newer upper leaves as it is not a mobile nutrient. Magnesium starts on older lower leaves as it is more mobile.

And epsom salt is magnesium sulfate. Excellent supplement for both elements.

But be sure why the deficiency is there. Too much nutes will block mag. Ph is off can stop mag from up taking. Cold or overwatered roots also.

Kelp extract over Epsom salts --- kelp at the right pH will balance everything ... i like to use a seaweed/kelp foliar until the medium is dry enough then i use an Enzyme breakdown formula to resolve any issues i have belter one .....@ kelp from extract from any garden centre is cool i get my enzyme from https://naturesdelight.co.uk/

Definitely on lower older leaves so magnesium for sure. All I could find was Epsom salt with essential oils in it so I didn’t bother. The bronzing seems to have slowed down a bit for now and the only thing I did so far was add the flowering parts of the feed I’m using and upped the CalMag. I think it’s about time I invest in a ph meter on a serious note though. The nutrients I’m using went from 250ppm to 480-500ppm when I switched to flowering regimen which I found odd that it wasnt gradually increased. Thank for the advice 👍🏼

Thanks for that info, I have seaweed based Vetokelp as a part of my nutrient line that can be used as foilar spray but do you recommend foliar feeding going into week 2 of flowering? So far I haven’t had to spray my plant with anything, I’ve had a bad experience once before though spray feeding in my tent during flowering so that experience turned me off lol thanks again for those tips

Definitely increased my CalMag by about 40%. I might try foliar feeding kelp solution as kissing.marry suggested if I the issue is getting worse. Thanks for the help
