yup, me too! bought one of this useless device.

i repot or transplant just before its due for its regular watering schedule - to see how the soil dried, and how the roots formed. ideally, you should feel that the soil mix has dried evenly and that the roots are starting to root bound in its (plastic) pot. however, when I repotted i noticed that the root development was poor and the soil was damp towards the bottom of the pot (thus 'cold feet' damage, root rot). and this is despite plenty of perlite to lighten and aerate the soil mix.

so, chuck out that soil mix, start afresh with a different product to transplant (21 dec 2019).
