    S1 from clone

An S1 will not be genetically identical as a clone would be. In the production of gametes, there is going to be some recombination and shuffling of genes. The only way that the S1 would be genetically identical to the mother is if the mother were entirely homozygous at every locus in the genome...

Using Feminised plants for further breeding?

This is my take on it: Breeders use gibberellic acid to induce a female plant to produce male reproductive structures. Gibberellins alter gene transcription and relieve inhibition of genes that code for male reproductive structures. Gibberellins to my knowledge do not directly modify the...

Using Feminised plants for further breeding?

If the plant was XX, it would be a female. It couldn't be a male because it doesn't have a Y chromosome. Males are XY, females are XX.

Using Feminised plants for further breeding?

By what genetic mechanism do you propose this will happen? I'd be interested to hear what you think might be going on. I had a debate with someone recently on this very topic and I have to say that I'm not sold on this being a possibility. But - my understanding of sex determination in dioecious...

Is root rot possible in cold temps.

I'd agree with that cal mag deficiency too, I was thinking the same thing when I saw that closer leaf picture, but then I thought it might have been damage caused by that root zone accident. VelvetElvis is right, your plants should be just fine after they rebound a bit. Those roots should...

Is root rot possible in cold temps.

Fungus gnats are usually flying around the root base and getting into the root ball. They are usually pretty easy to spot and so f@K!ng annoying! I hate those damn things. They usually target the moist organic material at the base of a plant. I've cut them back by closing off any access they had...

Daisy Cloner 8 and DIY cloner questions

Does the pump have a pre filter? You can buy little mesh filter bags for the pumps that helps. My cloner plugs pretty frequently if I use plugs. The little bits that fall off the plug clog spray jets. Easiest way to unclog it - take off the manifold, put it upside down in a sink and run hot...

The Aeroflo2 System food for my buddies?

Oh, and theres a guide called How To Hydroponics that will show you how to build a table comparable to an aeroflo for way less. They aren't quite as nice as the real thing, but I think with a little tweaking, it could be made just as nicely if you wanted to put in the extra effort.

The Aeroflo2 System food for my buddies?

I love aeroflo tables. I think they are super duper. I haven't used anything better. As far as organic. For the most part, I agree - the things will clog and salt can build up pretty fast with almost all the organic concoctions I tried in an aeroflo. But - I have had great success with...

    Whats wrong with my plants!!!

I think I might agree with the N deficiency and that you might be able to up your ppm a bit. Looking pretty good though, nice and deep green on the new growth, so that's good. I'm interested to see what ends up working out for you.

Please help...WTF is up with this bubba? Herm?

Ah, that'll do it. That would make sense of why that growth might have stretched or gotten a bit larfy. Bummer. The second set of pics don't look too bad though. Looks like some things went well ;)

Possible Mg Deficency? Having a hard time IDing (pics)

I didn't see the other pictures, doh. Yeah, I think you need to add some Mg soon. Cal-Mag boost, or Epsom salts should make them happier. Usually shortly afterwards you can see the green even up a bit more. The reason for this is that Mg is a vital component of chlorophyll, so if there's not...

Possible Mg Deficency? Having a hard time IDing (pics)

The lighter color on the new growth is a sign that you could use just a little bit more Mg. They're still looking good and I don't think you have much to worry about right now, but I'm betting it will become an issue when it comes time to flower. Are you running an RO filter on your water...

Please help...WTF is up with this bubba? Herm?

Looks like either your lights or nutes might be need to be a touch stronger or supplemented to bring in some more thickness. Those leaves are pretty light colored and the growth isn't very dense so that's my best guess.

Anyone experimented with different colored reflective surfaces?

If you are growing indoors, just use white material to reflect since white light contains all wavelengths if you are worried about light availability at the leaf level. I think the point of the colored mulch is to alter the properties of the soil such as temperature and moisture retention rather...
