Are 5 gallon pots really necessary with solo cup results like this?

reservoir, pump, timer, tubing and a few emitters. i water many times a day, even when i'm hundreds of km's away at the cottage for the weekend.

Need a basic breakdown on this rockwool watering chart.

the answers you're looking for are in the post with the chart and his subsequent post. yes, those blips are 100ml shots of water and nutes. Interesting but maybe a little overkill for the DIY. there's also a lot of other good info in that thread

Need a basic breakdown on this rockwool watering chart.

agree completely, there's no one size fits all, so many variables.... the environment, strain, watering method, plants uptake, etc as aqua man said you learn to read the plant by weight and visual cues but also testing. i keep a spreadsheet on my phone of the parameters of what i water with...

you could set up a reservoir (5G pail) buy a small pump some tubing a few emitters and a timer (you probably have one already) for very little.

Need a basic breakdown on this rockwool watering chart.

100%, that's why i said during a watering event, meaning one watering. watering too frequently or too much for plant size or too close to lights out can definitely lead to issues but an established plant can easily handle fully soaking the cube. think of ebb and flow, the table is flooded...

Need a basic breakdown on this rockwool watering chart.

gonna depend on a few factors like, size of plants, room conditions, what your cubes are in etc.. etc... as long as you have good drainage its darn near impossible to overwater rockwool during an event as the excess water just runs right through. on the other hand, if you don't give enough...

My first auto grow in my new spider farmer tent

sorry, missed where you said they were autos, now see it's in the title. 🙄 (i was already following the thread and just clicked on the alert for a new post) i agree, best not to mess around transplanting autos but then you have to adjust how you water early on. you don't need to water all of...

My first auto grow in my new spider farmer tent

be careful using such big pots to start seedlings as it makes it too easy to overwater. overwatering can definitely slow or completely stop root development. from your picture, the soil looks quite dark which leads me to believe you have watered the pot rather than the plant. for plants that...

    Bought a Ppm meter today

in an ideal world we could get our nutrients to water ratio perfect for each stage of growth but...... now that you're testing you can keep an eye on your runoff and make changes to how you water. without testing there's a tendency to gradually build up excess nutrients in the medium. this...

    Help with Water---- For Humidifier

evaporative humidifiers don't have that problem but as you point out they all accumulate minerals internally if you don't use distilled or similar water.

    Help with Water---- For Humidifier

i use RO (revese osmosis) water in my humidifiers because i have a unit for SW aquariums and hydroponics. a brita or similar will not remove enough calcareous elements to make a difference.
