What am I dealing with? Frustrated with RDWC.

I'm trying to run a "sterile" res using UC Roots (chlorine) so my beneficial biome should be toast either way. The waterfall manifold for recirculation also has brass T fittings and 90 degree elbows, so between those fittings and the cooling coil (it's not exactly a radiator, it's a cooling...

Yeah I've been thinking of a few ways to do this. Just seems so odd I have ran this setup without this happening in the past. I've done 2 runs without an issue like this using the exact same setup, the only change I made was switching from beneficial microbes to UC roots (chlorine).

Yes it does, I am wondering this myself. I mentioned in the original post I thought maybe the chlorine was causing my cooling coil, or the brass fittings in my waterfall manifold to corrode and rust.

Okay.. so I'll do my best to break this down and supply all relevant info and background. I have finished a few RDWC runs now, and have not had very much success, yields and quality has been disappointing when compared to my dirt grows. Most of my previous runs I think had some nutrient...

Cool that's exactly what I did. Roots look good, nutrient stained but no slime. Look the same as they did weeks ago. I run water chillers and beneficial microbes so I feel pretty good about my root health.

So for the most part, plants have been doing pretty well. One of my loops is doing rather well, minus a few of the top buds look slightly deformed, all the mid and bottom buds look amazing tho. This loop is eating around 30-40ppm per night and drinking tons of water. My second loop did rebound...

Alright, I'll let them run. Thanks for the help man, appreciate it. Where in Canada you from? I'm in BC. I'd buy ya beer sometime if you were close lol 😆

You think they'll be able to recover and bounce back alright? They started off so strong then this happened over 2/3 day period. If they are gonna struggle the entire way I'd rather chop them and start over again. No room for shitty product or weak yields really.

Yeah of course. The damaged leaves haven't been getting worse, they just kinda stayed the way they have been. New growth seems OK. I'm not seeing the blue/purple tinge in any of the leaves tho, just darker green. As soon as I saw the issue I switched out to a fresh res as quickly as I could...

Very interesting, I will give this a shot. Do you think the ratios being out of whack could cause extra intake of N in some way? The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is that I visibly saw my plants get darker green and then show signs of N tox.

Yeah, plenty of airflow. I'm using 1000w DE gavita x 4 in this particular room, and have around 4 feet between top of canopy and the lights. PPFD is around 1000 on average and my DLI is pretty bang on. They had absolutely no issues through out veg in this exact setup, running these same leaf...

There are lots of tips clawed downwards, look at the last pic on that leaf in the centre of the photo. All the serated edges along the sides are doing a upwards "taco" and cupping upwards but there are many leaf tips clawing down. They are also becoming rather dark green + shiny.

I'm at a loss man, I've put a TON of research and time towards this. I'm an experienced grower with a good handle on the science, I've done really well with many other mediums on both large and small scale. My room is pretty dialed, VPD is literally perfect, co2 is 1000ppm. When one of my...

Right, I do a complete water change every 10-12 days during flower typically. My entire system hits the full mark at about 82 gallons right now. It's the top ups between those res changes that seem to be the issue. Each loop drinks around 8 gallons per night at the moment (3 weeks into flower)...
