Yes, they somewhat mature from the bottom way to the top and really the best fruit needs the most time to mature. It's not a big difference, but it plays a role. Of course, because of the apical dominance the higher you go on the plant -- the densest the bud becomes.

I absolutely agree with you, and this is the disadvantage of the indoor growing. It's because of the light-distance law, that light diminishes progressively with the square of the distance from the source. Regards!
