    Bulb Mites?? WTF!?

UPDATE- things are good and completely chemical free. Plants are extremely happy/healthy (see photo). Thanks to everyone for the help/input up until now. FINAL SOLUTION- trashed my sh*t and started from scratch. Seriously. (I had root aphids/bulb mites early on.) Just to be clear, I am not...

    Bulb Mites?? WTF!?

Sorry to hear @HappyTrailz . It doesn't sound like bulb mites though, they stay down in the soil and I imagine their eggs are not visible to the naked eye, the bugs are so small themselves. I'm not sure if broad mite eggs are visible without a scope either, I'm guessing not, but I know they do...

Thank you @Ladyv !!! Interesting, that's what I am looking for. I'll see what Koppert has to offer.

    Bulb Mites?? WTF!?

Thanks for the link @salmonslammer. I still haven't found a source for H. Aculeifer, only for H. Miles. Aculeifer travel deeper into soil. If anyone comes across an insectary that carries the Aculeifer, let me know!

    Bulb Mites?? WTF!?

Definitely not a predatory mite. Predators move a lot faster than what I've got. The predators are also a bit larger in size, and their heads are shaped differently. Also, most predatory mites don't burrow that deep into the soil. While I cannot be positive that what I have are bulb mites, I...

    Bulb Mites?? WTF!?

Sadly, Nematodes will do nothing. The consensus from multiple sources seems to be that Hypoaspis Aculeifer or Hypoaspis Miles predatory mites will do the trick, but only if you release them in numbers 3x that of the Bulb mite population. The local shop has been researching these with me, and...

    Bulb Mites?? WTF!?

I'm in the Pacific Northwest. Since I had RAs in the last cycle, These girls had Met 52 and Botaniguard from the get go, then Cap's Bennies to maintain. These are definitely keeping the RA population down, but these mites are everywhere, feeding on the rot left behind by the RAs, I assume. But...

    Bulb Mites?? WTF!?

Thanks for the suggestion. Unlike russet mites, the bulb mite hangs out below the soil and chomps on the roots. Can this recipe be used as a soil drench? I try to stay organic, but the big guns come out if necessary.

    Testimonials For Caps Bennies

Update: You're definitely right on about the mites, but it turns out they are NOT beneficial. They are Bulb Mites. I've started a new thread about this new beast, so that this thread stays on topic about Cap's Bennies (which are thus far working on the RAs. I only have good things to say about...

    Bulb Mites?? WTF!?

Finally figured out what these things are. Bulb mites (Rhizoglyphus echinopus). NOT a beneficial mite. They have survived Imid, SMS 203, SM 90, safer insecticidal soap, mycotrol, beneficial nematodes, and Cap's Foliar Packs. Am I the only person that has gotten these? I can't seem to find...

    Testimonials For Caps Bennies

Enlightening information, indeed! I got a 100x loop and I'm going to try to get a better look at these guys to identify which mite they are. I had previously identified the root aphids, and made the assumption that these were the same beast in a different stage of life. This is what I know. I...

    Testimonials For Caps Bennies

Hey folks, Sounds like some people have had success eradicating root aphids using the Foliar Packs, you lucky bastards. I had RAs with my last round, so I applied Met 52 and Botaniguard as a preventative. Eventually RAs showed up, and some were dying off from these two products, but the...
