Jack Herer is now available in feminised form. Named after the legendary late cannabis advocate this sativa-dominant hybrid strain is a great illustration of just how good hybrid strains can be with fantastic potency, great flavour and masses of resin crystals.

Jack Herer produces several pheno-types although most will be leaning towards the sativa side. Approximately 25% of plants will display more typically indica growth patterns. Unless grown in a very warm climate this strain is intended for indoor cultivation. The sativa phenos will stretch between 200 - 300% during flowering so account should be taken of this when planning a grow. The indica specimens will grow into shorter plants with their stretch in bloom restricted to between 75 - 150%.

Flowering takes 8 - 12 weeks to finish with the indica phenos finishing earlier although growers are advised against cropping at 8 weeks for these; it is more rewarding in terms of both yield and resin production to go for at least another week or maybe two. The sativa phenos should be left for the full 12 weeks in order for their full potential to be reached. While the buds of the sativa plants run together along the branches forming beautiful, long colas those of the indica plants will tend to form dense clusters around the bud-nodes. A big advantage is the relatively low odour produced during flowering, much less than many other cannabis strains.

Resin production is astonishingly high with Jack Herer plants, the buds and smaller leaves glisten like diamonds and this prevails once the buds are dried. In terms of aroma, the spicy scent of Haze is combined with a fruity Skunk quality and an earthiness from the Afghani component. Different pheno-types will accentuate one or more of these at the expense of others. All phenos produce a wonderful balance of both sativa and indica effects. The soaring, cerebral high of the Haze is underpinned by a powerful and relaxing body high. No wonder that Jack Herer was one of the first medical marijuana strains to be made available on prescription from pharmacies in the Netherlands. While the potency of this weed is never completely overpowering as some land-race sativas can be those who seek therapeutic relief but who shy away from high-THC strains are advised to look elsewhere as Jack Herer is strongly psycho-active.
