I would experiment with setting temperature before attempting to germinate seeds. Better to be safe than sorry!

I'd try using your existing temperature controller first. See what happens.
The only issue with my temperature controller is that my heater is so efficient in that small space, it only comes on for about 1 minute and then shuts off for about 8 minutes, so if the heat pads were on the same sensor circuit, they may not get hot enough, with only a 1 minute operation every so often.

My other option is to plug into the existing circuit for 1 of my fans, which I have programmed to shut off for 15 minutes every 3 hours during the day and then every 6 hours at night.

I could try that too, OR buy another controller, or I could even cancel my order for $13 from Amazon and get 2 pads with their own circuit.

Look around u can find cheep discount seeds on some of the big seed companies web sites
This, I dont buy seeds unless they have a disscount, which they will very often. Barney's farms for example every couple of months or so has buy a 5 pack and get another 5 pack for free. I just buy seeds when I see the offers and I stack as much as I can for the future. RQS also has disscounts frequently and yeah, most of the major banks do. Sweet seeds is very cheap for the quality they offer and still they have buy 3 and get 4 many times.

They are great for germinating seeds or in winter when the lights go off if you dont have heat system but you do. I want one because here in winter sometimes I have problems but so far the router is doing a nice job 🤣 been using the same method for years, the only problem is when I need to germinate for both indoors, I have to do one first then then the other, with a matt thats no longer a problem.

i think heat mat is really unecessary with your set up your temperature is far from being too low ...
Yeah, you are probably right.

I think the bottom shelf though needs a heat mat, because the top is getting residual heat from the LED light underneath it.

My floor thermometer and CO2 reader shows 73°, while my ceiling temp reads 77° most of the time.

Oh cool idea, using the heat from the router LOL 😆

Residual heat for the win!

You can also pick up seeds rather reasonably from Greenpoint Seeds through their reverse auctions. I have run a good handful of their cultivars without issues ...

Honestly thats completely normal, you can either put stronger fans (do you have intraction and extraction fan?) and also if you cant control it just worry about the top canopy temperature. As long as the roots dont get too cold theyre fine. My thermometer has 2 probes, the one inside the thingy and then a probe with a cable that I place on the top canopy to make sure the top leaves dont have bad VPD due to excesive heat from the LEDs.

Well, I had a free gift certificate for these, and a few other items from Amazon, so honestly still a good purchase, can at least use these for helping germination.

😇

Oh wait youre not using a tent right? You have it by the window, then its harder to control, a fan aimed at the light always helped me. In summer I have to do that with at least 1 fan or my LEDs will toast the plants, luckily hot air goes up so with the fan helping even more its very noticeable.

Two fans, pointing in opposite directions, creating a vacuum circular flow within the window 🪟

Wow nice growing space you got going in there, that must have been a lot of work!
Yeah, it was tricky converting my apartment window into a grow space.

The hardest part was building the shelves and getting the lights fastened properly.

I took out the existing mini blinds in the window and I have those stored somewhere.

I made sure to get permission from my manager to do this and so it's really cool that I can
🤩

I will agree with this. I ran Peyote Critical and Ayahuasca Purple and as soon as the winter arrived and the daily temps dropped, they both developed purple hues.
Like both of you said, my temps have been much lower this run because of no wood stove running through winter and the same strains are showing way more purple and blueish hues. 10/10 would recommend lol

I'm turning my night temps down to 68° next month, slowly getting there.

Lowering my heater temperature, but increasing my PPFD on my LEDs.
