It's not hard if you already have the gadget. It's another thing to buy I know. Until then, use the offset.Hmmm, I never even thought about a leafreading, never done that before.

Leaf temp is mucho important@TheGoldenRoad linked me a thermometer for that, I'll look into buying that for my next grow![]()

That's not the app I'm using.Currently using this APP on my Android Phone
I don't know if that app needs one. I use an app called 'Photone' that does need one.You said I should be using a diffuser.
I understand. I probably should describe it better when I show that chart. I was thinking about it but my thoughts didn't make it to my post. There has to be a happy place between writing too little and too much. Writing a wall of text isn't it. So, point taken. Temps in the 70s are usually best for most of us.I love how 95° with 75% rh is right in the happy zone for late flower. If it were only that easy right?
For $10 you can get a touchless baby thermometer. Most have an object mode setting. (Or just offset by 4 degreesHmmm, I never even thought about a leafreading, never done that before.
77º F is about what I use for flowering. So... Sounds good!Based on this chartI'm doing okay then for early flowering at 77°
However, under LED lighting because it lacks the infrared power that HID's have, an 82F grow area would mean about a 78F leaf temperature. 78F leaf temp is about perfect.I understand. Sorry, I was talking about the Photone app and their diffuser - which isn’t what you’re using. You place the entire phonein this?
I'll take a look at that app. That's not the app I'm using.

Which is why for those who strive for every little detail, the infrared thermometer is the tool of choice.Just remember that leaf temp will be closer to ambient if...
The light is too close.
The humidity is high.
Air circulation is poor.
Or any combination of the above.
And if you're aiming for VPD with less than a 4° +/- margin of error you've already got everything nailed down anyway.![]()
I have a soil thermometer, but that probably wouldn't read a leafFor $10 you can get a touchless baby thermometer. Most have an object mode setting. (Or just offset by 4 degrees)
It should read your soil accurately. if you're in the 70f-74f range. (72F is supposed to be ideal) You're fine for a soil grow.I have a soil thermometer, but that probably wouldn't read a leafaccurately.

I did.Did you buy their diffuser?
I never used a DIY diffuser, so I don't know.If so, how much of a difference did it make from just using paper?
I use the app infrequently. I prefer to read the plants for light stress. I mostly use the app when moving a plant to a new tent to set the light to about the same level.I had made one from a piece of PVC with the paper taped on one end. But with no reference have no idea how accurate it is and wasn’t keen to spend $26 on theirs if it wasn't a notable difference (as I hardly ever use it).
Ahh, I think my app does say to place a piece of white paper as a diffuser.Sorry, I was talking about the Photone app and their diffuser - which isn’t what you’re using.
What kind of diffuser is it?I did.

I stopped buying extra grow toys after I paid $150 for my "quantum" PAR meter. Cost me $25 bucks for every time I've used it lolWhich is why for those who strive for every little detail, the infrared thermometer is the tool of choice.
However
Realistically speaking, its more of a range. If you're in the ballpark, you should be fine.
For some phones, its nothing more than a sheet of white copy paper. What kind of diffuser is it?
It's funny you say that. I paid quite a bit more for my "quantum Par meter." It's been sitting in its case for the last few years. I used it maybe a half dozen times and that was it.I stopped buying extra grow toys after I paid $150 for my "quantum" PAR meter. Cost me $25 bucks for every time I've used it lol
I think that was meant to be funny. If not, I apologize for the haha.I stopped buying extra grow toys after I paid $150 for my "quantum" PAR meter. Cost me $25 bucks for every time I've used it lol
The Photone web site used to have instructions for making a diffuser. I got lazy and bought one.For some phones, its nothing more than a sheet of white copy paper.
